They don't give it a glowing report. They haven't even driven one yet.

Shame it doesn't have a dual-clutch gearbox.

Probably one of the best looking car's you could buy. Best in Black.

Old man was/is wanting one. Bought the RS4 as they wouldn't give details of the engines. Entry model has the RS4 motor. Can't wait to see if they'll still a V10 in one.

As Evo say, anyone considering buying a Gallardo will surerly want one of these instead. I know I would.

Lovely motor. Must work on the old man to order one

lol evo havent got a clue then. No one in their right mind with tons of money will get the R8 over the gallardo, and thats coming from a audilover. The gallardo is getting 550hp in a coupole months aswell, as well as lighter RWD versions.

I'd have to have a Gallardo AND an R8!

They both make the F430 look boring!

BMW dickriders. One sided sport orientated reporting. If they want to give bmw s the nods over mb's and audi's everytime due to the sporting drive then do so by all means, but how about telling the consumer that mercedes is alot more comfortable smoother and relaxing than the bmw and audis interior making the bmw's one look cheap.

You've obviously not been in the new 335i Coupe then... nothing cheap about that interior (cant comment on any of the other models as I've not been in any of them)

I have been in the E92 and its alot better than all the other bimmas, but still nothing on audi. But then again once the lesser e92's come out I bet interior quality will reduce with the price.

I'm more of a wafter (watch it!) these days so I take what they say with a pinch of salt, but if you like a 'sporty' ride and all that malarky then a BMW fits the bill. For a smooth ride and refinement you would traditionally choose MB. And if boring handling, a poor ride, but a nice interior are desired you go for a posh VW, AKA Audi.

(or if you've any sense you get a 3 year old Mondeo and find something more important to worry about).

There you have it... TopBanana on cars, Clarkson had better watch out.

Fair enough you've been in one but come on, Audi Vs BMW aside, Im struggling to believe that you really think the interior looks cheap. Compared to the Mercs & Jags I've been in, I think it compares quite favourably in all honesty.

Last weekend I went to bmw, audi, mercedes, volvo and vw dealers. Audi was easily the best, some mercs were better than others, and bmw was below vw in terms or build quality.

Older mercs had some ****ty interiors but the newer ones like the e-class and c-class are wuite nice. The S-class one wasnt all that especially compared to the audi S8 which blew it out the water. BMW dissapointed me to be honest.

Volvos have nicer interiors than BMW's. Only thing I liked about the BMW's were that the seats were comfortable.

Well, I've never been a fan of the Merc interiors, and I think the latest ones have a passing resemblance to the inside of a posh hearse (not that I've been in one ).

As for VW vs BMW, again I can only compare to a new R32 that I test drove 2 weeks ago Vs the 335i that I test drove last week.. and Im sorry but theres no way the VW was the better, not even close by hey thats just IMHO

Jeff.

the 335i costs more than the r32 and if its a well specced model it will look good. average spec or pooor spec bmws look ****e interior wise.

Agreed on the price thing but a well spec'd R32 can be £32K so its not opposite ends of the spectrum is it? Its fair enough saying average spec'd or poor spec'd BMW's look s***e but surely the same could be said about some Audi's and Mercs (and obviously Ovlovs!)?

volvos are generally quite cheap and the ones I saw at the dealership looked good. The new ML interior was a bit poor but the rest of the mercs were good, although the s-class was dissapointing, as I was expecting it to better the S8 which it fell rather short from.

A £30,000 audi a6 s-line interior is better though than that of the £60,000 M5.

BMW need to do some serious work on their interiors, as a the new corsa interior is about the same level as a poverty spec 3er, which shows how far the game has moved on.

the plant in hungary is one of the most advanced in the world actually, and the TT is a bit of a national icon to the hungarians as without it they would be alot lot worse off.

You cracked up?

German carmaker Audi turned out the twelve millionth engine at its plant in Győr, northwest Hungary on Wednesday, Audi Hungaria Motor Kft announced.

The six-cylinder 3.2-liter fuel-stratified injection (FSI) engine will go into an Audi A6 built at the company's plant in Neckarsulmban in Germany. Audi started making the FSI engines at its plant in Hungary in 2004 and has since produced 160,000, turning out 350 a day.
Audi Hungaria plans to make 1.8 million engines in 2006, up from 1.7 million in 2005, managing director Thomas Faustmann said. Engines at the plant go into Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda brands, in addition to Audis. Audi Hungaria had revenue of €4.213 billion in 2005, 7.2% more than a year earlier and a new record for the unit. Audi has invested €2.8 billion at its unit in Hungary since setting it up in 1993.

You really are giving us Audi owners a bad name with your fanatical attitude.

Drive both cars and compare. I've had a BMW M5 and M6 and the quality and drive is second to none.

I've also got a deposit down for a 2008 build R8 with Lambo engine.

Audilover - Just a comment imho, not meant to be confrontational - I think you sometimes confuse (maybe unintentionally in the way you post) equipment levels/specification with build quality (e.g. VW vs BMW comments). The entry level Beemers are indeed a bit mean on the spec side, and it does cost quite a lot to get them up to what is standard in cars like the R32, RS4, etc, etc with satnav, leather, etc. However, a blanket refusal to acknowledge that cars like the new M5, current M3, 335i, Z4M are cracking drives, with decent kit, refinement and importantly good build quality is a bit blinkerered. I agree with you that Audi has some great cars - the RS4 is a wonderful car - had a drive of a mates just two weeks ago, and I'd love one....but equally, there are some incredibly boring (if reasonably well spec'd and built) Audi's out there you know!
