mine never missed a beat. i had the tiptronic version aswell. and it was impecable. dont let that put you off. its built/designed by porsche and is quicker to change gear than a manual. 0-60 was 4.68 seconds timed in mine.
and they weigh about 1600kgs IIRC so thats good going
id keep your eye out for the FSH though. really important on jap engines as im sure you know

There was an old VR4 that used a 2L 4-pot. That was back many years ago, I think before the EVO I ever came out. The VR4 being talked about here is definitely the V6 twin turbo.
The one I test drove, I thought the (tiptronic) gearbox was absolutely lousy, and I'm also confident it wouldn't have done 0-60 in anything like 4.68 seconds. Earlier spool, smooth pull from low revs, comfort, it had the scoob licked. I didn't think the one I drove actually handled that well once you got past the AYC (which did give great ultimate grip if you drove it right). Performance I personally found a bit disappointing for the power output / insurance group etc. IIRC insurance was export so high, fuel economy was significantly worse than a UK scoob, but it's a 2.5L V6 twin turbo in a bigger car, so what do you expect?
As always, different people will have had different experiences and hold different opinions, the only real way is a good drive to see what you think
