R33 GTST...
.....Well I picked up the R33 GTST on Saturday morning.....and even though I had every intention of selling it on, I can't.....so the Subaru is going to fund the "tweaking" of the Skyline....
I was worried at first about drivng a RWD (especially with a drift diff on it ) but oh my word, as long as you respect that you can't throw it around, the car is so much fun to drive!
(especially after coming for Calsonic Racing )
Being the 6-pot as you know, there's no deep burble which is strange and will take a lot of getting used to, but the low hum as it gets going and then hearing the massive intake of air as the turbo starts spooling up....wow....just wow.....
Anybody else had a Skyline experiance?
(apart from you Chris S )
If so, did you keep it, defer back to AWD or are still enjoying it?

hi m8 yes had an r33 for a year, ok if you like rear wheel drive, problem is insurance is an absolute feking con (tend to put in same group as gtr which it isn`t) you think scoobs can drink try a rb25det and you be looking for the big leak in the tank It`s that bad, then theres the mods you need a lottery win to tune these fekkers and then some! all in all ok but image is dying off now i believe due to new evo`s being evil! personally i would not have another one had hell of a job to sell it virtually gave it away! if i was u and if you can afford it keep scooby till you really decide wat you want to drive! as i love my little 1995 wrx import, goes well and handles and doesnt cost an arm and a leg to modify mildly!. after having perfomance bikes for 10 years (gixer 750,zx12r,fireblades x2, ducati 996, and finally gixer thou k3 with 168bhp at r,wheel tuned) i wanted something to rock my world again and i feel scooby does this just as good as any other car on a budget obviosly if commitments did`nt control desicions i would like an evo fq perhaps one day! hope you enjoy your ride anyway and this is just my opinion as you did ask!

I know what you mean when you say the cost of tunning and running but once you play about with any car, it's going to start costing big $$$'s.....
I'm probably luck as I have plenty of friends in the tuning business and it's already been booked in for some...ahem...treats....
Maybe it's because i've seen sooooo many scoobies lately, i'm liking the "not passing another R33 every 5 mins" feel........also because it's a RWD, it feels like more of a drivers car.....if you know what I mean....
Evo's?
Sorry but I don't rate the unfortunately......too much taking away from the driver

Not at all....
The GTST is a 2.5 single turbo.....the GTR a 2.6 with twin turbos that most people convert to a single turbo anyway....
As for Vaps comment...i'm so far infront of you it's a joke...and probably 10 years younger....

I wouldn't have imagined you're ten years younger either.
I'll be 29 next year.

I do not live with your dad!
Seeing how you turned out, I don't think I could deal with the "touching"
And I can afford to run all of them
We had this dicussing before didn't we Rabit?
You save to go on holidays etc as you don't see the point of spending money on cars etc?....well some of us can do it all......
not saying i'm better than everyone else....just a lot better than you

You are the one who uses the pathetic term 'Dad' when talking about your father, as if he's everyone's parent.
As for being better than me, I've already proved I'm your intellectual superior, that you're a coward and a liar.
Enjoy your evening with 'Dad'.

Hurry up and get some pictures up matey, what sort of power is it running?
LOL at the pikey comment - there's quite a few gts's out there that will humble the gtr performance wise but most buy the gts for it's drifting capablilities.
Let's not turn this into another silly thread between Tripple OG and Vapid, Vapid, Torpid or whatever handle the troll goes by.

You really are a moron
You used the term "Dad" in the first place.....plus there's no harm in it....unless you use the term not knowing who he is, like in your case..."is that him Mommy?"
"No son, thats just another one of Mommy's special friends"....
you didn't prove anything, you couldn't prove me wrong and I sure as hell couldn't be ar5ed to prove anything to you
as for being my "intellectual superior" thats based on a self proclamation
.....
Not doing too well though are you for being an "intellectual superior" really are you?
You have never owned me, nor will ever....you're just a very scared person who feels safe behind the comfort of his pc
Sticks and stones may break my bones but your words will never hurt me....or anyone

Woops, sorry Chris just read your post....
It's only running on an air filter and de-cat all the way through....oh and the drift diff ....
I'm going to take it to Ron at RK tuning?
as i'd feel much more comfortable getting an ECU in there and a safe map......
What ECU would you recommend?
I've been told Apexi FC, but then HKS and i'm not sure the of the best route?

I was tempted with a GTR a while ago, but a friend on mine worked at Abbey and warned me off due the running costs.
With the GTS you still have the ability to release big power, without the fear of needing a mortgage if you blow the engine.

why don't I organise it for you to jump in the ring with me Vaps your @nal one as you obviously can't stay away from me...
Starting to swear now? did I touch a nerve?
Have a great weekend
I did hear that too Moley.....big money when it does go wrong....but i've also heard that I can safely get 400bhp out of the engine without needing to do the internals?
which I think willbe plenty quick enough.....
It's just deciding on an ECU as thats the building block for the rest of the car....

There's the small matter of no fancy 4wd system, less power, lower spec, etc.
The GTR may be the king of Skylines, but the GTST was overshadowed and is still a damn good car
