RS6 to RS2?
Having second thoughts about the Alfa 156 GTA wagon, and stupidly hadnt thought about the RS2!
Anyone have any thoughts?
Seems to fit all my criteria...

Old car now.
20v motor, expensive to repair if it goes wrong. Audi one of the worst car manufacturers from my experience in supporting parts for old cars.
HTH.
ex recent Audi quattro owner.

Would have thought it wouldn't be any cheeper to run than your RS6. For it's age, things might start going wrong that just makes it more expensive to run than your RS6.
If you want to keep with Audi but want cheaper running costs, why not just get a new-ish shape S4 Avant?

Well, my RS6 costs me about £1250 a month so I can't imagine it will cost more than that!!!
Whereas I could buy an RS2 outright, insurance would be cheaper etc. I'm certain that tyres and brakes will be cheaper. I'm not bothered about fuel.
I have a brand new S4 avant as my courtesy car, and there is just no way in hell I would own it. I want something exciting, interesting, quirky, fun.....preferably 4wd, preferably with a big boot for snowboards and bikes.

Read my mini review from when I had my mate's RS2 for the weekend.

Boot isn't large unless rear seats are down and it has a lot of intrusions that make it a funny shape. Looking at the prices I was very tempted myself- 12K buys you a mint left hooker. Great cars and people who say they are 'dated' haven't got a clue, classic is the word.

Of course it needn't cost a fortune to run any of the older RS cars if you avoid Audi and go to QST. That's where I used to take my S4 and they know their stuff.

Yup exactly. I pay about £850 on the payments (I did a straight payment, no balloons etc, at about 3% fixed APR), £150 for insurance, then average £250 for fuel.
Obviously that figure doesn't include servicing, depreciation etc.

WRX wagon or the Mondeo imho the newer the better as older performance cars would require more maintenance and may break down requiring expensive repairs.
Sorry for stating the obvious

I'd have looked at an RS4 (B5/6). I've got an S4 (B5)...... quite like the v6 bi-turbo
Compared to the RS6, the 4 is just as much of a hoot. Same type of handling, with less of the running costs....

There are 2 Legacy 3.0 Spec B estates on autotrader just now for less than 15K. Ok, it's not quite a RS2, but I'm sure that you would be more than surprised by it. If you stretch the budget a bit, there is also a modified JDM 2.0 turbo Spec B that would comfortably match the RS2.
Just a thought.

A old work colleague of mine has an RS2 in silver. He's had it a few years now. Serviced last year, only done 60 miles in it since. Serviced again recently. I was only speaking to him about it today. He's thinking of selling as it clearly dosen't get used.
If you are interested let me know and I'll check with him and perhaps forward his details to you.
I think the mileage is below 50k which is probably one of the lowest mileage examples you will find. Plus it is right-hand drive.

Definitely interested! PM me the details.
I wasn't planning on silver, but then I wasn't planning on a green bugeye or a red RS6

It's all circumstantial surely? If I was earning £25k a year, then yes you could probably say that was ridiculous, but I'm not.
