Hi, looking at mid 90's models, ive heard alot of bad reports on reliability from tvr and wondered if anyone has any experiance of the above and what to look out for?

I have a 1999 TVR Griffith 500 ..... same frame and engines but not enough room in the boot for golf clubs
I had a good look on PH before considering buying. Generally the 'Rover' V8 based TVR's have few problems compared to other models.
I have had mine 15 months and the only thing to have broken is a fan relay.
Get a good one that has been looked after and they will usually be fine. The older the car and the less 'care' the more likely problems. Often higher mileage cars that have been regularly used are arguably better buys than low mileage weekend cars.
Be aware though that a TVR is a hard ride / drive as a daily car and for most the only aircon is taking the roof off ! The cabins get very hot. I thought I could use it as a daily drive but got fed up slowing to a crawl for speed humps + ended up buying a Scooby as well to use to work.
Handling is best in a straight line but performance is .... predictably good.
Rolling road figures are often low compared to claimed outputs - don't worry about that ; just drive one and enjoy the noise ..... which is awesome
Hope this helps a bit ......
