Default Any new cars with old school feel?

Just looking for something new or 6 months old which feels similar to the old school hot hatches, ie like the 205GTis etc.

Apart from the 172/182, what else is there? The only thing that puts me off the Clio is there seems to be hundreds on the roads (and all driven by women...).

CTR also too popular...

Any ideas for something a bit unique and different?

Primarily looking for something that will thrill at low speeds - I've got a 270 bhp WRX which only seems fun at three figure speeds - and can't remember the last time I went over 80mph...

Try a MINI GP Works mate, I had a drive of one last week and it does feel like the old school 205s, the backends nice and fidgety, likes to get involved, the engine has grunt everywhere (reminds me of the 1.9Gti) and it goes pretty well all things considered. Steering feel is a bit lacking but thats modern stuff for ya I suppose... I really enjoyed my brief go in it.

You'll see the same car in next months EVO btw

Sounds good, but I bet they cost a few quid - looking for something around the £10k mark...

Ignis Sport sounds interesting...might go and look at the Suzuki dealer tomorrow...problem is that the wife has got a Fabia vRS and I can't have something inferior to hers

...unless I kept the vRS and made her get a shopping car

I've seen off a fabia VRS on the twisties, wouldn't like to try on the motorway though

I've upset lots of cars recently (driven by cretins of course). New golf GTi was interesting . They are amazingly good fun to thrash around though...give one a try

It's the weight. Because of modern safety standards and construction methods, cars now weight a **** load more. You won't find what you're looking for

zs 180 is lightweight considering its a 4 door with a v6 ,official stats quote 1230 kg's but i know a few that have been weighed and are actually only 1200 kg's (same as a civic type r ).In only 30 minutes mine is 1080 kg's for going on track .

MX-5 feels antiqainted to drive. Pity about the limp wristed power steering that it doesn't need.

Image might put you off though and its a tad impractical

Clio Trophy is a bit more raw, rare as rocking horse too. Unlike the standard versions

What about the Ford Focus RS? Read an article on those recently (EVO IIRC) saying that the cars customers took delivery of where a lot better than the ones Ford gave out to journalists to test. Problems with torque steer etc where not as bad as the hacks made out.

If it's really raw you want, I would go for a Honda Integra Type R DC2, you can pick up a great one of those in your budget. You could probably get a DC5 but I wouldn't exactly say that was old school.
