Tried one around Millbrook the other week.

The V6 sounds nice (it may have had a sports exhaust on), goes ok (not so "on & off" as the power delivery on the astra vxr).

Handled ok ish but trying to put the power down in the low gears gets the traction control working overtime, which I personally do not like.

It would be nice on the motorway all day but I bet a new one would deprieciate like a stone.

Compared it to an Astra VXR, Golf GTI, Impreza WRX and Skoda Octavia VRS and it was my least favourite apart from the exhaust note.

Last month's EVO magazine, or maybe the month before had an article where a Vectra VXR and a Scooby went head to head in a roadtest. Going from memory I think they gave the VXR a fairly good write up.

I wasnt overly impressed with one.

I think they have tried to tame the car down too much and I dont really want that from a car like this. It didnt really feel as outragous as the Subaru kick.
Maybe the older motorway driver may appreciate it but thats whats Rover's are for isnt it?

While trying to organise a test drive on the Astra VXR, the salesman said he had a Vectra VXR only for a demo, said he didnt want to take me out in it as would put me off the VXR, in other words not as good as the Astra by quite a way.

Book figures are only slightly different

Astra = 6.2 0-60

Vectra =6.5 0-60

Monaro= 5.2 0-60

One of the main (and only) reasons NOT to buy one is the luncheon meat badge
