Question Tyres for Golf 140Tdi

Wife's Gold needs a new set of front shoes. It's been a long time since I bought tyres for a FWD car so after some recommendations please.

Car has OEM Mich Energy (205/55/16 V91 ) which are a little noisy in my opinion.

Need something predictable, good in the wet, quiet, good wear.

Have been offered Eagle NCT5 at 69.99 each.

I had Eagle NCTs on my old Volvo T4, it used to chew 'em up in under 10K miles.

My Passat diesel had Conti Sportcontacts as factory fit. Very predictable handling and lasted over 30K on the front / 40K on rear, not bad for a heavy barge with high torque, and I always drive with TCS off.

They are a bit noisy on certain surfaces but very good value, they're usually about £80 each.

My Golf GT TDi (140) Has Dunlop SP01A Sports.

Was speaking to a tyre place the other week and it was apparantly designed for the VAG range of PD cars...

Why not just go for Toyo T1-R? Soft but still good for decent milage unless your wife gives it some.

Have Toyo's on mine, however the Golf only needs a V rated tyre so may be a little OTT.

Ian - Will check out the Dunlops.

Hmmm The "S"? Will check them out. Black Circles are doing a deal on W rated GSD3 at the mo which is looking favourite.

The Toyo 'S' is the old version of the 'R'.
They are cheap to, and tyres are never really OTT- unless you do not like your wife;

True, but as far as speed rated, V is the OEM and rated to 149mph, plenty IMO! No need for Z rated!

Gotta nod to that one. Had conti's on my mk4 golf for a while and they do last.. not got the ultimate all round grip of the eagle gsd3's tho, but are a good middle ground between grip and endurance/tread life.
