Default £30k to spend....car suggestions please..

I am soon in a position to spend UP TO £30k on my next car...

My shortlist so far is as follows:

Porsche 911 (996) with GT3 kit (dont like the plain ones!)
Audi RS4

I have had loads of BMWs including m3 so Im not really keen to get yet another(even though they have all been superb cars)

Im after something with some exclusivity, pimpness, perofmance and good residuals...the 911 seems to tick all the boxes, but I thought it may be an idea to come on here for second opinions..

I dont mind how old the car is, as long as its a modern shape/design...

Suggestions please!

Why would you have a GT3 when you could have a classic 964RS? The reason the RS market is so bouyant right now is that GT3 owners are selling their cars to buy 964RS's......... Or buying a 964RS to go with their GT3 of course......

Probably coz I'm still in nappies but I prefer the newer GT3 aswell. Although I'm sure the 964 is much more saught after. Never been a fan of the older stuff though. Maybe I will one day...

Problem is the 911 will still be circa 2000my for that money, ie prior to facelift and obviously 6 almost 7 years old. Are you happy with that?

Default 996 good choice

964rs these are totally over valued now, this time 2 years ago you could pick up a 30kmiler for about 25k, now there hitting close to 40k! (lots at 35-36k with far more miles)!! great cars, but only for the track, took one round snetters and they are great but as a daily driver you'd get pretty peeved with it I think. Saying that if you can find one for reasonable money I'd be very tempted and just wear earplugs

Deep, yes I am happy enough with a pre facelift provided its mint/FPSH etc...I could save a bit more and get either a gt3 or a facelifted 996, but I have had enough problems convincing myself to part with £30k, dont think I could justify anymore, maybe when I earn more, but not just yet!...its taken me 10 years getting to the position where I can part with £30k...maybe another 5 years before I can part with £40k!

fiddy cent has a 993. They seem to be holding theyre value. I dont find the 996 all that desirable, especially the GT3 version as the front bumper looks crap.

Front bumper can easily be upgared to a tastier turbo bumper, and the car looks a lot better once done...

£30k is R34 GTR money, that R33 Le Mans is very overpriced IMO!

ooops, I'm sorry! I remember that price from years ago, and recently there were Diablos available from 50k, so I sort of assumed.... but you're right, they seem to start at 50k upwards!

OTOH - one said "full 375hp spec". And an RS4 has how much, and what more from MTM?

Still, as you hadn't written "reliable" or "shouldn't need gorilla to operate clutch pedal", I thought it might be included

Good one, but we couldn't use it at all, with our weather!

R34 would indeed be an awesome purchase, but i dunno i could hand 30k of my hard earned for a jap car. I'd rather 10k for a modded R32 and 20k for the older M5.

RS4 defo gets my thumbs up, for a straight 30k car.

I nearly swapped the RB for a tuscan at the start of the year, same choice but came down to 996 or a tuscan, 996 too slow and tuscan was just that bit tempremental to make it worth selling

Guy round here, has a Tuscan. Wrapped it twice.

Sounds lush. I reckon it would scare me to the point, of not wanting to drive it.

I think you'll have difficulty finding a RS6 for £30k that doesn't have 70k+ on the clock.

Turbo, how many seats do you need?
