Rust is a real problem on them, watch the front of the bonnet & wings, at the base of the windscreen & the sills.

When growing up, all my dad bought was Capri's. The one I remember the most was the last 3.0s, in White with black roof.
He used to take me up Hamsterly Forest where we proceeded to see how long a Black lines we could leave in the road
Driving around in the Snow was fun as well.
It was stolen one day, and ended up on it's roof in a corn field. He then got a 2.8S in Black. Had that for 4 weeks before it was stolen & burned out
By this time he got fed up with having his cars nicked, and got a Silver Sierra 1.6GL ??????????????? Got bored with that almost straight away and chopped it in for a XR4i.

the 2.8 are fuel injected,
i remember reading years ago an article in cars and car conversions about 3.8 litre conversions, that were done with head conversion, not a bore out. mental.

The 3.0 is probably more tunable than the 2.8i. The 2.8i is 160bhp as standard and apart from the turbo technics conversion there isn't much out there really to improve the power a great deal (cheaply) but there seems to be a bit more scope for tuning on the 3.0 Your first mod should be a lsd from a special though

The headaches start alraedy, so this one bit everyone want i suppose, that should be easy to get

Never had one but been in 3, My uncle had a yellow one many moons ago when i was seven (i burnt the gearstick with the ciggy lighter when he went to the shop and left me in the car, he was not very happy). Also my dad used to work for fords test driving the capri when it first came out.
More recently my cousin has a brooklands that he keeps in storage and breaks it out once in a while, scary car to be a passenger in, fast but not the fastest. Also have a mate who is selling his 2.8 at the moment if not already sold it. This was more scary to be in, mainly cos he thought it was quick, but it is not and he also thinks he is a good driver again not true, it felt like i was sitting on the floor, and you've got to have good eyes to see passed the end the end of the looooooooonnnggg bonnett.

Had a 2.0s, then a 3.0ltr, and then the 2.8. The 3.0 with berton heads and a 4 speed box was fantastic and a real drivers car.

If I remember correctly Capri RS were either 3.1 or the really rare 2.6
There was a triple carb set up for the 3 litre but aftermarket. The 3 litre was the Essex engine and had problems getting the same amount of fuel to all the cylinders, hence triple webbers.(looked fantastic)
One of the reasons for the change to the 2.8 Cologne engine with fuel injection, each cylinder was fueled properly.
I had a few capri's and never managed to sort out the tail happy handling.
