Default What next? Scoobs so slow!!...... Miss my cossie

Okay chaps,

I have a 2002 STI prodrive Type UK,

Its currently got:

Full turbo back Hayward & Scott system
TSL Group N panel filter
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Remap..

Its currently making 277bhp ATW @ 1.1bar, thats 322bhp @ the crank.

I miss the cossie loads cos the scoobs just not exciting enough, so where do i go from here? Ive been told to get myself a TD05 20g.

What do you guys recomend i get next and how much is it gonna cost me, Ideally id be looking for around 380bhp with good torque too.

HELP

Mate: I think you're spoilt!!! A 322bhp scooby isn't exactly a slow car!!

I think you should have a word with Andy F about a TD05 20g and supporting mods; it won't be cheap though.

I had a word with andy f for my sti 8.

Basically advised full decat system (currently have ppp); panel filter (both of which you have) TD05 20G turbo and remap. This would have taken me to around 360-370 with similar torque.

I bought the turbo s/h for £600.00 but soon realised that the exhaust and remap (plus a set of oem ported headers) was going to cost me an additonal £1500.00 or so. In the end decided throwing another £2.5k at the car which a) I wouldn't get back and b) would make the resale slightly more difficult, would be madness. Instead opted for AST suspension set up. and sold the turbo on.

Still fancy the exhaust but may look at this when the warranty runs out.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Not sure what Spec C's you have been in and who has driven them, but my Spec C is so much quicker than both of my previous 340bhp Escort Cossies (in both handling and speed) and is quicker on the queens highway than my previous 500+bhp RS500 (in handling and speed other than little boys straight line mway stuff).

If excitement is gauged by a car that seems quick because it is a handful... but reality is not *that* quick, because the **** end is all over the place and your on the *edge* more often.... a Subaru is not for you.

If you want the excitement of being able to leather the back out, then you need a Scoob with DCCD.

If you want more power full stop.... you need to modify.

Regards,
Shaun.

IMO a Spec C is too expensive for what you get, ie no c/l, e/w, a/c etc etc.

I dunno Shaun, maybe i want the moon on a stick.

Steve maybe you could take me for a squirt in yours sometime if you wouldnt mind.

Sorry im coming across as a downer but the scoob just feels boring.

If you had a high powered 2wd saff then most cars are going to feel abit boring compared to that! Mine was only stage 1 but it was serious grin factor drifting it...

On the cos side I can see why you think the scoob is slower, my mate has an escort cosand to go out in it and drive it the feels faster makes the right noises (got to love the wastegate noise) but then the last time we had a bit of a blast he couldnt keep up with my p1.

I am not saying cossies are slow just a comparision between my mates and mine, the cos does feel faster just isnt always the case but its all down to what you prefer to drive

Dont reply to this one then... How is it stupid? I was asking a genuine question.. ive come from a fast exciting car to a fast boring car.

If you look at the genuine people that replied above you, you will notice that they managed to reply with a sensible answer.

It appears as though im not posting a stupid thread... but your replying with a stupid answer.. if you dont like it.. dont reply.. simple

Maybe you just upset me because I love VBH

You're right about not responding fella, but come on SLOW how can a car with that power be called slow?

Mine got that sort of power and it still scares me

95blackwrx,
Now now.... thats not nice. I could say buy a proper Scoob and not a 95 wrx ****ter.... thats not nice either!

Frayz,
IMHO most people that buy Spec C's dont use them for what they were intended for..... and thats to track the ****.... it's horses for courses.

Perhaps (and don't take it the wrong way) you have bought the wrong Scoob?!? I bought a UK STi after selling the RS500...... used it for 4 weeks and then bought the Spec C. Never looked back since as it gives me everything I wanted.

Ok, my car is far from standard with extras spent on:

Brakes - £1500
Suspension - £2500
Handling Mods - £500
Engine - £2000
etc etc etc

But it murders anything I have ever owned or driven before.

It's a tough call and unfortunately until you try things you will never know.

Personally I think you need a car with DCCD, proper handling setup, good stoppers and 350-400bhp and it will leave all but a few 400-430bhp Cossies for dust.

I prepare to be shot down in flames by others.

Regards,
Shaun.

I never said its actually SLOW mate, If you read my posts i say that the car feels slow and is unexciting.

Im pretty sure that it will hit the 60 in the mid 4 sec bracket and it pulls clean well past 150mph... thats not slow in anyones book....

However, my last car was fast and it felt fast, exciting and fun to be in. The scoob feels slow and boring to be in. My mate has a series 2 Lotus elise and its only runing 135bhp. Next to the scoob its stupidly slow... but get in it and its so exciting to be in, it gives you the biggest grin factor.

Something the scooby isnt doing right now

If i were you i would sell it and buy another cossie.
You obviously aint happy with the car and i dont think adding more power will change your views.

Frayz,
I'm not suggesting you need to get a Spec C to be honest, as these are just (I say just, but you know what I mean) a more focused version of any other JDM Twin Scroll car. You can get the same all round car by picking up a normal JDM twin scroll STi car. Even in standard trim, driving a twin scroll back to back with a UK STi is like chalk and cheese..... I couldnt believe how more responsive the twin scroll setup was until I tried one.

Of course the JDM STi's come with even more toys (if thats what your after) than the UK ones as well.

Stick 370-380bhp and 360-370lbft (not expensive to achieve) through one of these JDM babies with your diff fully open, and then tell me it's not exciting! roflol

Have a look in the For Sale section, as there are a number up for sale to give you an idea on price.

Regards,
Shaun.

Frayz,

If you want excitement, take the windscreen out!!! Now that would make it feel really fast

I know what you mean, it's not the best built car but it IS built pretty well and this dappens the feeling of speed IMO, i've been round Snetterton in Steve's Spec C and it feels bl00dy quick to me! Totally different car and very track focused which make it feel very quick on the road!

Quick Reply: What next? Scoobs so slow!!...... Miss my cossie
