Default Early 210 Audi S3 & Late 225 Audi S3 diffs...

Been doing a little searching, not much so far but thought I'd stick a post in here.

What are the differences & when was the 'facelfit' on the Audi S3... I assume the face lift included the new style rear cluster, head lamps and 225 motor...

Also the engines are the same.. does anyone know what changed?

Was it a KO3s to larger K04 swap.. Inectors... or was it simply a different map? Lol... don't own one yet but already thinking about a turbo swap.. lol... need to go somewhere and have a mid-life...

Thumbs up

Right, as far as I know the facelift and the 225 didn't come together. There were a few late 210 facelifts so dont get caught by people selling 210's as 225's. You can tell the 225 cars from the 210's by checking the vehicle sticker under the boot carpet. It will have a KW output on it... the 210 being 156 and the 225 being 165. The 210 and 225 both run twin intercoolers and use a K04 turbo but run slightly different maps, also the VVT was driven differently, one mechanically, one hydraulically dont ask which was which as I dont know but its not relevant as the VVT is only used for emissions not like on Honda's. Both engines when remapped will give 265 hp ish. The other main differences on the facelift were the new lights plus a few cosmetic bits and bobs but even these can be bought so dont get caught by people selling off older cars tarted up as the newer model.

Nice one - will remember that one

Fair enough.

Ok, same turbo & injectors so only maps were different I see.

Ok, I can see the rear clusters & certainly the front headlamps are different.. ie the late spec wrap-around as single piece as opposed to the earlier being a two piece. Are you saying the headlamps are a direct swap too? I was using them as a guide between facelifts and non..

Any more specifics or links on the diffs would be appreciated, thanks again

Differences between facelift and non are as follows

Front headlights - not a straight swap, need some of the front wings grinding out but it is doable.
Rear lights
new style S3 badges, on rear, front grill, steering wheel and near speedo.
Completely restyled centre dash - big swap to change this over, facelift one MUCH better looking.
silver edging around the interior, e.g. on air vent toggle, underneath gearknob, centre of steering wheel.

old one here

new one here - only one i could find it has the double din sat-nav unit, most will have a single din head unit, then the Climate controls and then a piano trim cover that hides a cubby hole.

theres bound to be a few more changes but these are the main cosmetic ones.

Thanks, exactly what I needed. Signing up to the forums - awaiting confirmation of passwords.

So the headlamps are doable? - do you have any links on this? - the headlamps appear very different - the slam panel accepts both however?

Thanks again

there are a few threads on audi-sport about the headlights, have a search on there. its not an easy job and it is usually a fail safe way of telling between a facelift or not.

but looking at all the other stuff will back up the headlight situation, if unsure.
