Audi RS2
Test drove one for the first time yesterday.... (second hand at local Volvo dealer)
What a car... 10 years old 138 000 kms and as tight as a drum!
Acceleration was dissapointing upto 3000 rpm's .....
then just after 3000.... it was like a bomb went off! giving me just enough time to ****** 3rd and then off again! What a noise..... mind numbing acceleration.....
The Volvo salesman Shat himself and was visibly shaken! Apparently he had no idea of the cars capabilities!
The brakes were great upgraded porsche 996 but the pedal travel was a little too much for my liking.... at least half way... is this normal?
Cheers Plums.

RS2 - what a beast. As long as the service history is there, big miles don't really phase Audis.
The only down side being that when something goes, it's pricey. BUT, they are expensive cars - kind of to be expected really!!

There was another thing that I found odd as well as the brake pedal.....
and that was the tyres....
4x4 system I know but it had brand new Bridgestones on the front and brand new toyos on the rear.... weird....
Trying as we speak to convince the wife that we need a 3rd car

Was considering one of these a while back. Porsche upgrade brakes is the only thing these cars need, and it has. Why is the mileage in kms? How much was it up for?

Mileage in Kms cos I live in Switzerland...
Price was silly cheap 18k swiss francs which is around 7k pounds.
the car is 100% original not a scratch on it (trust me I've searched)
and is even sold with a 12 month warranty from the volvo garage!
It has had only 2 owners and has every reciept and document from new!
If I knew how to post pictures I would!

I would say so. Could more than double your money as I think even 100k milers are asking £12k plus. That has only done 86k!

Nice - I assume the "limited edition" stuff down the side can be removed? And the badge is missing from the front... Beautiful cars though. I'd love one.

The limited edition graphics are factory fit! It's under the original lacquer!
To be honest though I kinda like it... is that so bad?

Weird - first time I've ever seen them on one, though I'm no expert! If you have the money, and the space - get it.
Have you looked on the RS246.com site or whatever it's called, for more info?

Funny you should say it's at the local Volvo dealer. The pic from the front, without any badges on the grille, makes it look somewhat like a Volvo grille - dunno why but it jumped into my head.
BTW, nothing then a bomb at 3000 - these things were famous for great performance via horrific turbo lag, which resulted in a number of hedge-seeking missiles. You've been warned!

Plums, I'm driving the RS6 down for 12 days riding in Les Gets at the end of June, maybe we should have a mini 'RS' meet

I chap who runs our local Longlife in Plymouth has a super clean RS2. Quick and well screwed together, but felt heavy and slightly wollowy through corners. Perhaps it was just this example although it only had 50k on the clock and seemed far from tired.

Yeah this one felt very well built.....
hard to believe that the car is just over 10 years old!
Only thing that was a bit dissapointing was the brake pedal travel....
I was expecting something a little sharper! When they do start to bite they haul the car up very nicely though!
At least in my Honda Accord Type-S I feel something from the first 10mm of travel! Which is very reassuring!

Some cars (like classic Imprezas) have a fair amount of travel when compared to over servo'd modern cars. Try a search on the RS246 site for Servo and Pedal Travel and see what it throws up.
