S2000 on Cat-D
Hi,
Having moved on from my WRX, i've now spotted a Honda S2000 on a Cat-D for 8k...
Seems cheap! Presumably as thats mentioned full details of the repair should be available..
Any comments on the S2k in general?
Dan

Speak to Saxo Boy, he makes love to his daily
I've seen a few good cat-d deals in the past and considered one myself but the trouble in selling the car on always puts me off.

I agree with saxo-boy, i deal in Jap sports and won't touch cat d's or c's as they can be a nightmare to shift and you never know who / what / how it's been repaired. I and many others believe if they stopped selling damaged repairable cars then car theft 'may' decrease........i say 'may' as it's common knowledge that many of the cars are stolen to order to keep down the repair costs of such vehicles. I've no objection to them being broken for spares as this makes economic sense.
There will always be cheap cars on the hit list but with a bit of patience you'll find a nice, undamaged car at the right price!!
Dave.

Remember, cat D means that it was WRITTEN OFF. Minor damage wouldn't cause a car of that value to be written off. Food for thought. I'd NEVER buy a cat D (or c) unless it was written off when it was worth little and the damage may have then been minor.

Also worth bearing in mind that it can be written off for a number of reasons.
High wait for part times.
Ridiculously high cost of imported parts.
Could be every panel had a dent but a reshell has sorted it.
But aye, a risky proposition, but then so is any car buy.
Did you know that when cars are written off, insurance companies regularly offer thew car back at a set value and a part of this offer can be that the car stays off the register!
