When is the new RS6 due?
Would it be sensible buying a used (30k-ish on the clock) RS6 Avant right now, or waiting?
Is the new RS4 Avant worth the 20k extra over a low mileage, high-specced, warrantied RS6 Avant?
thanks
Ed

I want the best aggregation of both, for the lowest price
My current choice is the RS6...I just can't swallow 20k over the RS6 bearing in mind how much it will likely depreciate.

Ed try this link and read through. MattC works for Audi and gives some idea about when the RS6 maybe released.

Rumour has it for a launch sometime in 2007, but I don't think the car is even confirmed at all yet - at least that's what my dealer told me a few weeks ago.
Given the new S6 avant is £56k, the new RS6 will likely be the thick end of £70k when it is released - too high IMO to have that much impact on residuals of the current car, which you can get a decent example for £35k now.
RS6 or RS4? Depends if you need the space. The new RS4 is pretty cramped in comparison as a proper family car, though as a drivers car I'd expect it to beat the RS6 from what I've read.
Gary.

RS6 it is. Just need to find one with the right combination of spec and colours. They sell so bloody quickly, there was my ideal combo in Audi Docklands last week but it sold before I could even look at it

RS6 you could take it to do most things apart from involve you in the drving of the thing.
My GT3 was an animal, pure & simple. It was something that i drove on the edge at all times. You cant do that with an RS6 IMHO.
To the RS6 owners i aint having at go at you lot, i am just giving me opinion on why there is a massive difference between the GT3 & the RS6.
Saying that i now own a 535d tourer as its practical for my needs at the moment, but i still hanker over my old GT.
Again IMHO of course
997 GT3 with some options could be a practical car IMO, but might take the rawness away, which in turn looses the GT3 appeal.
You could even spec a sunroof
When I'm in the RS speedbumps scare me

My problem is I only have space for 1 car, and given the amount of snowboarding / mountainbiking etc. I do (as I type this I am sat in a hotel in Laax in the Swiss Alps
) whatever I drive needs to be able to have a tow bar with a triple bike rack, take 'lots' of gear + several adults, hard-wearing leather seats, but still be mighty fast and put a smile on my face.
The RS6 is the only solution I can come up with right now.
Although, I am starting to seriously consider getting a mercedes vito van left outside for the bikes / boards / trips etc, leaving my garage space for something more, um, extreme

I can vouch for the RS6 after owning a 993TT until very recently. The Audi saloon(now with re-map and Milltek) is an amazingly capable machine for it's size and has every toy imaginable. I will be happy to use it as an every-day car and will buy my dream car at the end of the year to use on the other days I feel like listening to the bark of a 360's VB from behind me.

The diesel engine was just going to be an alternative to the petroel. It was always going to be a petroel with the probability of a diesel option which I wouldnt rule out as yet.
The R10 diesel lemans car has started to clean up slowly already.
Cool video of a old shape RS6, check out the tires and brakes at the end

The thing is, it is actually something along those lines.
