Air Box on Mk2 CLIO 1.6 16V RSI
Hi,
After trying to get an answer on cliosport.net but failed. I thought I'd ask the oracles on here for advice.
I currently bought a MK2 CLIO 1.6 16v RSI. Thing is I noticed the air hose had come away from the engine which I have now rectified. Question is in the manual it mentions about changing the air-filter but not in great detail. As I look at the air box, there doesn't seem to be a way of opening it up to change the air-filter. Do you have to replace the entire box with the air-filter in it? Bit confused
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies. As far as I can see there doesn't seem to be a way you open up the box. So all I can deduce is that the box needs disconnecting from both hoses and the whole box replacing with a new box and air-filter inside.
Dracoro. Helpful advice there mate..............Not!
I do own an STi UK. The clio is a run-a-bout so I don't have to worry about some ****** ripping the mods off it whilst parked up somewhere. It only comes out to play at weekends.

What reg is this?
If it was anything like my old 99 1.6 16v valve engine, the air intake pipe connects to the front of the car, enters a sealed resonator box before running to the inlet manifold at the rear of the engine right next to the bulkhead.
If thats the one then it had 2 torx screws near the inlet manifold, after the resonator box, that held the filter.

Exactly the same as my old car, the box in middle is just an empty resonator box, the actual filter is at the rear connected the intake manifold, undo the 2 torx screws, remove the rubber clip and it all comes away, OEM filter is a thick paper job, replacements eg Green are much thinner cotton gauze.
Dead easy job to do
