Wow - The Lancia Stratos was a fine looking car and a monster rally weapon, straight through exhaust and you could hear it 1/2 a mile off.
This looks like a well worth while namesake

Very nice but I think that the softening of the lines lessens the visual impact + as with most concept cars/mock ups, the wheels are too big. It looks, if anything, that it would be less practical than the original in terms of visibility and accessability.
Still beautiful though.

The apple-green prototype on show in Geneva is fitted with the 425bhp V8 from the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, and is theoretically capable of over 210mph and 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds. It weighs less than 950kg, thanks to a spaceframe chassis construction and composite carbonfibre panels. It sits on 18-inch wheels up front and 19-inchers to the rear, and has been built by D3, a subsidiary firm of the Pininfarina group which has previously made prototypes of cars including the Renault Avantime, BMW Z8, MINI and Citroen Pluriel.

I see they've put the Lancia badges back on, even though its not got any Lancia involvement. They took them off at a show for fear of Fiat having lawyers who weren't afraid of using a JCB and burying people under bridges.

Prodrive have been asked to perform a viability study on how to put the new Stratos into production. You may have heard of Prodrive - they mess about with some sort of tin-pot Japanese 4wd farmers cars ;-)
However, I would imagine that it would be quite an expensive car, and would have to be really, really, really good to tempt people out of their 911's and Aston Martins. Unlike the real Stratos which was born to win rallies, the new Stratos IMO seems to be only living on the memory of a car that's now 30+ years old. I still think the older one has a wow factor the new interpretation doesn't.

The screen was one of the most striking features of the original, and the bar down the middle spoils the look.
