£30K Golf R32 ??
Would you spend £30K on a Golf R32. I have specced up my ideal car and trying to book a test drive.
Spec to include;
Sat Nav
Recara Seats
DSg Gearbox
plus a few other nice bits.
Can't decide wether £30K it too much for a Golf though.
The WRX SL PPP would be my trade in.

It`s amazing how far (or how near I guess) 30 grand will go these days!
I expect you`ll get a load of guys on here who`ll tell you no Golf is worth 30 grand.............right before they`ll go and spec up a 3 series to 30 grand or spend in excess of 30 grand on an STi or Evo.
Of course the only one who knows the value of the 30 grand is you.........

You could near enough buy 2 Focus ST's for that, the magazine rave about them and reckon they are better than the Golf Gti, they also reckon that the R32 is a little bit better than the Golf GTi, suspect there wont be much in it unless you really dont like the look of the Ford of prefer a Vw badge ?

Does seem like a lot for a Golf, but they do seem to hold the value.
30,000 pounds buys a lot of car these days, no matter what they put on the Golf, its still a medium sized hatchback that goes a bit faster.

Maybe wait till the Audi S3 is released if you want a hatch.

30k for a Golf is OTT IMHO. Secondhand Beemer M3, or M5 in a while, is the way i'd rather go.

Considered a 2nd hand M3, but don't like BMW's and would struggle to get a 2 year old car with sat nav plus the bits I would like for the any where near that money from a main dealer.
So if you consider a Sti Spec D fit a good after market sat nav and your close to £30K anyway, and you don't get those fantastic Recaro seats or build qulaity and residual values or a flappy paddle gearbox! of a Golf. Plus I'm bored with Imprezas.
Suddenly it doesn't seem like such a big sum of money.
By the way, max horsepower is not the thing here, been there done that, got the T shirt, I want a good nice looking (My06 certainly arn't), reliable, better imaged, comfortable, every day car.
Other alternative was a Forester Sti from Litchfields (which I have driven) but guess what, fit Sat Nav and your knocking on £30K for a Impreza on stilts. So agin is it such bad value????

I like the new R32 and would definately fancy one but can help thinking what i could get 2nd hand for 30k. Basically anything you really wanted. S4, M3, 2nd hand R32, porker etc etc and as for sat nav just buy a tom tom for £250. As someone else pointed out the GTI is nearly as good and easy to mod to same power albeit only FWD but there are so many 2nd hand options that i couldnt bring myself to spend 30k on a new car. I fhowever you plan to keep the car for about 5 years then maybe its not such a bad idea but if you will change in 3 years or less i feel 2nd hand would be a better option.

Also don't want to start Modding another car in any way, I just want a car that does exactly what it says on the tin, no warrantte issues as well.
2nd hand is an option, but the way I buy new cars makes it tax advantageuous to buy new, even if I do lose on depreciation. At least the Tax man doesn't get as much...
Must be AWD as well, I just like it

The R32 is a damn nice car. Also think about appeal, every man and his dog has got a scooby, the R32s a rare. The build quality will be better and the 3.2 litre engine is bullet proof. The only other car I would consider in this price bracket would be an EVO X.

I think £30K is a lot for a golf, being brand new it's going to loose loads of money as soon as you drive it off the forecourt, especailly with loads off extra's.
I'd probably buy a year old type 25 or a second hand M3.
I know of a nice M3 convertible on an 03 plate which is fully loaded for £31K, TV, Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Harman Kardon, SMG box, 19"s plus loads of other stuff.
