Audi A6 Avant
All
Exploring the possibility of an Audi A6 Avant as the next family hack. I'd prefer the 2.7 (twin?) turbo petrol variant as opposed to the diesel largely because the company I work for picks up everything fuel wise. How do these cars handle inter-galactic mileage? (200K +).
Any comments? I want to go down the manual route having driven an auto for the last 3 years but I'd be interested to know how Audi's tiptronic stacks up against BMW's steptronic.
Also, any views on the Merc C32 estate. I had heard they don't have a great reputation for reliability.
TIA
Cheers

I'm assuming your're not looking at a new one, as they're a 4.2 V8
However, I can only comment on my S4 Avant - which is perfect for my family and dogs etc.
The A6 is even nicer
The mileage thing doesn't seem to be too much of an issue, as long as it's well serviced. Although if something does go wrong, it can be quite expensive
I found that the V6 bi-turbo was an amazing powerplant Just soooo smooth and torquey in any gear.
After coming from a modded Scoob, it made a pleasant change, tbh
Check out the S6 Avant - they're going quite cheaply (about 10K) with 85K on the clock (as long as its got FASH, and the cambelt will have been done @ 80K) or
£20K for an MY02 with 47K on the clock.
Well worth it IMHO
Places to check out are -
www.fontain.co.uk
www.croftmotors.co.uk
Although both of these can be a bit pricey

I'd image a C32 is also a good car, and again should be able to handle big mileage no problem, but in terms of build quality the A6 would have it whipped.
