cat7,

I've got one and the running costs aren't too bad. The real killers are the Inspection 1 and 2 services that seemingly require the owner to donate an arm and a leg to the dealership.

Mine averages 27mpg with a mix of driving. Can't grumble at all. It sounds fantastic above 6k rpm and you'll very soon find yourself travelling very quickly if you keep your foot down for more than a few seconds. Love it to bits.

Was lovely but soon got bored and bought a M3 CSL.

Veru comfortable, quick etc but was just to refined for me.

Pete,

A pair of 19 inch tyres, at 255/35/19 will set you back about £200 a side. However, if you know someone in the trade they are much more reasonable!

I also went from a STI > Evo > 330D > m3 cs.

I found it takes a bit of getting used to after driving turbocharged cars for a long time the powerband comes a lot later.

They are deceptively fast to the point where you really do need to cheak your speed to realise how fast you're going.

Way way better build than the jap cars but the price reflects that.

I can't understand why people say they are boring, I find mine anything but after all 340bhp going through only 2 wheels instead of 4 is entertaining at the best of times, and in this weather even more so.

More economical than the Evo or STi. Clutch and gears seemed very heavy to begin with but I'm used to them now.

Real quality refined car to drive.

I think the red leather is fab, which is why I looked for it with aluminium trim. Makes a very dark cabin more interesting.

Default not if you want an accurate speedo

M3 is awesome. I'd have one in a second if I could insure it.

For the time being, I've got the baby brother 130i.

I went M3 > STI

M3 just wasn't me at the time, maybe in a year or two when the new V8's have depreciated it'll be time to go back

M3 are broing cars, Stick with the scooby doo as a lightly modded one will slay a M3 and you will get more respect off other road users for not being in a bavarian bin!
