Default New Golf GTi

Anyone here gone from a wrx to a new GTi?

I'm seriously considering going from a MY04 WRX to a new Golf and wanted peoples opinions. Doing this would save me almost 200 quid a month.

Very nice car imo...My friend has a gunmetal one with the 18`s on it. Goes pretty well, smooth power delivery and also likes to rev....plus very nice exhuast note for a std car. And the build quality seems very good too.

Nice looking cars - would have to be in red though.

no, white is THE colour.
well i hope it is since i have just ordered one.

Not that quick, but it just feels 'right'.
I would imagine it would feel a little slow compared to the wrx.
However a remap to 250 ish might sort that. See REVO or Superchips for details.

Wink

I test drove the DSG GTI and thought it a fine car, quite quick, thought the DSG was great, but found the amount of wheelspin on a wet road to be extremely off putting, I was expecting great things having read/seen so many reviews on it but ended up quite disappointed, just my thoughts on it and I'm no clarkson!

Rated by Evo and this months copy has test of uprated version.
Personally I do not like the look of it.

Standard model has been tweaked by tuning Company,to 250bhp with handling mods as well.Evo liked it and said car handled the extra power well.

Not that quick
That's because it's white - red is a faster colour.

oh right, i thought u were maybe refering to an uprated factory model.
There is talk of one with 240hp, but think it is some way off yet.

Sorry for being bit unclear, mag is at work now but I think in same Issue, Evo tested the Golf with new Focus ST and the Golf was marked very slightly better,(not read that report yet just a quick glance,)

Have had a WRX. Sold my MKV GTI for a VXR and no regrets. The Golf is a bit overated and underpowered IMHO

The savings come from me getting a car on a company novated lease rather than HP (I'm in Australia and novated lease's attract less tax). I'd get another WRX but the 06 looks like a Daewoo IMO. A White GTi manual with leather and xennons is currently on the top of my list...or 2nd hand MY05 rex.
