Estates making kids sick??
I used to have a Sierra Estate years ago which used to make my eldest sick when he travelled in the back.
I'm changing my car and would like an estate, but not sure if my son will get travel sick in the back.
I've heard other people saying that Estates can make rear passengers travel sick due to the suspension.
I'm guessing this is either an old wives tale or just that my old Sierra was knackered If there was any truth in this, are new estates better?

This is true. Until recetly, my dad always had estate cars and when we were kids they always made me and my sisters feel sick.
Don't know why though, but I hated getting in the car with him.
Or maybe he's just a crap driver?.....dunno

New estates have moved on. Some estates used to have 'floatier' suspension due to the engineers taking into account anticipated rear loads (that's why many buy an estate in the 1st place!). Nowadays they tend to be better engineered, suspension re-done etc. to balance out the extra length and weight. Some estates, in fact, actually handle and ride better than their saloon counterparts.
Anyway, try/borrow/steal a few to see what they're like. Some manufacturers will give you an extended test drive so next time you've got a decent journey with the kids to do, get the test drive then each time and see how you go.
Not that I ever got car sick much but my dad had old passat, carlton and omega estates & I and my siblings never had a problem with them.

I've got a test drive booked in an Octavia Estate at the weekend. I've asked the salesman if I could have a decent run (with my son in the back) and he's fine with that. Just hope my son doesn't chuck up in the back of the new Octavia!

If you had shagged shocks its will make your passengers sick. Consider any car over 5 years OR 70K miles to have worn out shocks that are past their prime.
Avoid renaults, they tend to be very barf inducing in my experience.
Peugeot 407 Station Wagons seem fairly good, as is the Focus (to a lesser extent)
BMW tourings are quite firm - 3series touring is a bit too stiff and jiggly for the roads round here, but the 5 series is just about right for me (unless I jump in one with 80k+ miles and shagged suspension )
If you look at MPVs...avoid the Zafira and VW Touran, latter is slightly better but it's still pretty floaty in the rear.
