What sort of difference does the remap make. I've just bought a fortwo for the daily commute, was considering a remap but only up to Brabus levels and mainly to try and alleviate the lurching through gear shifts. Your Roady must be very rapid. What else have you done (suspension, brakes etc). I think i saw a piccie of one with Lambo doors but don't think it was yours .........(Salsa king?)

I have a 4/2 that had a remap ..... it is well worth the money and brings performance up to Brabus levels of 0-60 in 11 secs + circa 95mph top speed (instead of 0-60 in 15 secs + 85mph top speed).

It does make gear changes smoother and transforms the car from a good little runabout to a bit of real fun. It is great to see the expressions on other drivers faces as you pull away from the lights - they just expect you to be slow!

The limiting point on these cars is the handling - which is c*ap.

I was truly amazed when we first tried one - I thought my wife was mad wanting it but I have definitely been converted by the remapped version we ended up buying! We tried it pre remap but whilst good it just didn't have any bite. The extra power and particularly torque from the remap made the difference.

Any pics. Have you still got your fortwo?

John - Where did you get it mapped, other than the ecu was anything else involved....cost....Do they flash the existing ecu. What affect on warranty and insurance. Mine is 12 months old so have another years warranty on it. I probably will wait until this expires before remapping although i said i wouldn't mod the scoob.

Any decent smart sites other than smartmaniacs.

Try www.thesmartclub.com for Smart matters and advice + forums with loads of people who have modded their Smarts ......

Our 4/2 was remapped by Sussex cars in Storrington - I can highly recommend them.... they know their stuff and don't charge the earth. Our remap was part of the deal to buy the car but I think he had quoted £300. I think it is a generic remap and they flashed the std ecu.

The car was a 53 plate and almost outside the manufacturers warranty. It did though come with 6 months warranty from Sussex cars covering anything that went wrong. I would imagine that a remap would effectively invalidate the manufacturers std warranty.

As for insurance we had no problem at all getting the car covered with the mods - most people who have 4/2's seem to want to do things to them so the insurance company were not really bothered by a simple remap and only wanted I think it was £15 extra. We got insured through 'mcn', a broker who are Smart and kit car specialists.

I have to say the remap was more noticeable and 'aggressive' than when I got my WRX PPP'd .....

Thanks for the info and the link John.

Think i might book a test drive of a Brabus to see the difference for myself. I can weigh up then whether to remap in the Summer or wait for the warranty to expire

This thread got me thinking. Now our Brabus 4/2 is out of warranty is there anywhere that offers a decent remap for one?

Nothing silly but it could do with a bit more urge and anything that smoothes the shifts out would be very welcome.

Thanks

Robin

Not sure about remapping the Brabus, isn't the ECU hardwired or something by Brabus?
I absolutely loved my Brabus Roadster Coupe. Had to get rid of it though as reliability was an issue
