Scoob Terzo. Disappointing turbo lag, no feeling of speed despite the dials saying "You'll lose your licence NOW", couldn't get much in it (solid rear bulkhead), and lost £10k in a year due to depreciation.

And, increasingly, my diesel RAV4; fuel consumption higher than I expected, tiring on the motorway; but I suppose the feasible alternatives weren't alternatives at the time (X3 only released a year or so later) so maybe I shouldn't be so hard on it...

Clio 172.

Total crap. Couldn't wait to get rid. Dealers made the owning experience that much worse. Will never touch a Renault again.

Fiat Coupe, mine used more oil that petrol, wasnt even much good to drive.

Rover BRM, good fun little car, mad take it or leave it looks but I liked it, regretted it as the Head Gasket f*cked up, I repaired it, it f*cked up, I spent months with the faint taste of anti freeze in my mouth.

New BMW 330d Sport. Problems with brakes that the dealer and BMW UK had no interest in fixing and numerous other faults. Had for 9 months lost 8K.

Legacy 3.0Rn, should have bought a STI and been done with it.

Unhappy

Saxo VTS after I sold the Scoob! Managed to get rid after 6 months for a Fiat Coupe, which I also got rid of because of the uninspiring and scary handling..

Slightly confused by this. My mate bought a new Escort GTi in 1998. It was a 1.8 1/2 leather blah blah - but had 13?hp, and i thought it was quite quick ?

Civic 1.8 Vti Aerodeck

Noisy, nasty, soggy, piece of sh!te. By 20k miles the suspension was creaking and the interior rattling. The steering self centred so viciously that it was unbelievably tiring to drive - presumably this was an attempt to keep the awful torque steer in check.
Quite possibly the worst car I have ever driven. Bought it 3 years ago because I needed something sensible (or at least with more than 2 seats) because kiddies were coming along. Chopped it in for my second Impreza (MY00) 5 months later and have never looked back.

answer to both questions. Caterham R500

Regret buying it because
a) it was bloody expensive
b) engine reliability (early cars)

Regret selling it because
a) it was about the most fun I've had with my trousers on
b) it lost a load of money in a very short time
c) because I still want that kind of performance kick.

How did your R500 lose money in a short time?

A nice one still sells for 25k even at 5 or 6 years old, not that bad really.

E46 M3 - little torque, summer tyres are crap in Scottish winter, rattles, poor brakes, floaty when pushing on, service interval counter drops like a stone when you drive it hard, depreciation, dealer, warranty, expensive, over-rated.

Fiat Punto - unreliable, poor handling, poor ride, unrefined, gutless, depreciation.

I think the Fiat Coupe was a great bargain car. Fast, nice to drive and handled well. You just bought a crap one it seems - there are plenty of dogs about. I know what a good handling car feels like (i own an Evo 8).
