Default GOBSMACKED....ASTRA VXR.

Hi all, out of curiosity, I called into my local vauxhall dealer today to check out this new beasty.

Overall I was very impressed and it looked a beauty in metallic black with full leather, satnav and 19" alloys at a price of 22890.....on the road.

So, on my return home I checked out on direct-line online for an insurance quote.

My details, 35, male, professional, full no claims and parked on street.

Fully comp with no mention of tracker was, wait for it.....................

305.50 per annum......yes, PER ANNUM.

Bloody gobsmacked and very tempted but sadly more than I can justify.

Si - keeping the classic wagon for a little longer yet.

Even from the dealer you should get 2k off that, people like broadspeed should get even more off. You never pay full price for a vauxhall

The price included all the extras:

19" alloys
satnav
full recaro leather
IDS
carbon interior kit
full mat set

Base price is just over 18k......

Still can't afford though.

Si.

All well and good, but what about the depreciation and front tyre bill per annum?

nearly 23 grand on an Astra, you would have to be mental, will be worth about 2p after 3 years.

Why, what happened to them then, are they as I think you are saying cheap or do they hold a certain enthusiast premium, my mate has one (2.2 sri) and it seems ok.

That be about the same as the 2nd value as soon as you drive it off the forecourt! Seriously, though, that is pretty cheap considering the performance. In a few years time there may not be much else that could match the bang per buck of these cars.

Well my son ordered one and then cancelled it and bought a Subaru instead and he works for Vauxhalls and gets 20% discount.

There are quite a few paying list on the VXR. Discounts are harder to achieve. Broadspeed are not the best source of pricing as they often have prices on there they cant match. Drive the deal is offering 0.1p. There are some deals out there though.

The VXR is a lot more limited in numbers than other Vauxhalls, so supply and demand should keep prices highish.
