Default Hennessy Doge Viper SRT10- Move over Veyron

Move over Veyron! the new dodge viper does 255mph with a twin turbo V10 lump producing 1000bhp and 1100llbs it'll see 60 in 2.9 and 100 in 5.7, not bad considering its rwd and laying down that much power

I quite like the looks of it too, very aggresive

There's a big difference between American tuner claimed performance, and independantly proved and timed actual performance..........

True but if you got the dodge it only costs £130,000 that extra 700K in my pocket will buy the mansion and a few tuning accesories

the thing is that the Veyron is limited to 252mph and cost over £5'000'000 to make... I know which I'd rather have. Think the Veyron is still faster than that too... would be interesting to see the 0-200 times, as the Veyron Vs the Maclaren F1 they said on topear the F1 can start at 120mph and the Veyron will still hit 200mph before it... insane cars though, would be happy with either

Hope its a lot better than the standard srt10 as according to 5th gear ( Jason Plato ) it was total pish. Lets be fair he is pretty handy in a car so kinda knows what he is speaking about. Even if he does wear silly hats.

It'll just be a lot quicker!! TBH Jason ddn't really "get" the Viper, expecting any finesse or delicacy from one of these things is pointless. It's going to be a bit of a pig to drive fast around a track. It's really more intended for the freeways and drag strips. There can be no doubt about its power though, even a standard one develops, what, 550bhp and similar torque and weighs about 1500 kilos.

As Jeremy Clarkson once said, this is barn door engineerig: simple and tough- not technically a good car, but very likable all the same.

As for the Venom.......1100 lbs ft of torque!!!!!!

I also think the Viper is the Horniest looking car ever made. The old coupe in particular was a masterpiece of muscle car design.

Fair enough but would you not want more for your 130,000 quid?? Even the standard one has way too many flaws for the money. The vette seems a better car all together. In all honesty i would never buy any antiquated american junk anyway and anyone who pays £130000 for a tuned SRT-10 over say a ferrari, Lambo, Aston etc needs their head read. IMO.

I agree, IMO i would much rather spend 130k on a Fezza 430/ Challenge Stradale everyday of the week!

Each to his own though, it would be boring if we all like the same stuff

gav..

If it was my money, I'd spend 35K get a Type 25 (as fast in the real world as pretty much anyone could possibly need) and put the rest towards a nice house. You just son't need to spend 100k to get supercar performance these days, look at the new Audi RS4.

Actually, If I had the money I'd pay that price just to have the thing on display.....I mean look at it, park whayever you like next to that and the Viper would win on the admiring glances- it's just georgous!!

I'd agree, based on the convertible, but wait till you see the coupe version and -in particular this Venom version- It's stunning!!!!!

The dodge looks like your typical american **** box of a sports car.

They Veyron is a work of art and was built specifically from the ground up to achieve the performance it does.

There's NO comparison in my eyes.

Veyron all the way. The amount of attention to detail, the time it has spent in testing, ensures this car will not be beaten for at least a decade.

It is IMO the best looking car in the world, and if I had the money, it would be the first car I would buy bar none.

Doubt a 1000bhp Viper could manage a cross-europe drive without something blowing up on it though.

As I've said before, people can get 1000bhp skylines and 500bhp scoobs, but they don't spend long on the road before somthing needs rebuilding

I don't know mate, that V10 is very lightly stressed as std. it takes the US 8.3 litres to get 550hp and how much do Mercedes and BMW need for similar figures? Gotta love the yanks

Of course there is no comparison between the Viper and Veyron, there is no comparision in price, how much loss are Bugatti making on each one and thats at a sticker price of 800k!!!

I think the Viper's better looking, though! But then I'm a fan of muscle car styling! Each to their own.

Good point. The veyron is designed to be the fastest car in the world and be used as such every day of the week and then serviced just like your normal cars. Anyone can mod a car to 1000bhp, although its still bloody hard, but to make it reliable and comfortable and user friendly as the veyron is and to make it last more than one day of driving hard is another matter.
