Anyone here got a Lexus RX300 or BMW X3?
Looking at both as a potential upgrade to our Corolla Verso.
Anyone got or owned either and any opinions?
The new Lexus RX400h looks v good but a little out of my price range

I've a friend who has an RX300 in silver - had it since new its an 04 plate I think, he loves it and says its one of the best cars hes owned.
Ive been on plenty of longish journeys in it and it is very comfy etc my only moan would be 'that' dashboard very tacky imo.

My Business partner has an RX300 (54 plate), its a 3.0 se with sat nav, have to say i've drven it a few times and it's the best 4x4 i've driven. Very comfy, quite quick and loaded with goodies. IMHO its way better than an X3.

Another possibility....just browsing through the Porsche website - starting to quite like the Cayenne also - might go have a look round the dealers later.

Apart from the image, any reason why not an X5? They were raved about until the footballers got hold of them.
New Rangie Sport? though they strike me as falling between two stools...

Don't bother with a RX300 if you are planning to tow with it.
They are not liked at all by the "towing" crowd, the RX300 suffers from a lack of low down torque so it has to work very hard with a large trailer on the back. Stories around of overheated gearboxes as well as single figure mpg.
Cheers

Out of all those suggested I wouldn't have any.
I'd probably go for the Cayenne based Toureg with the new 3.0V6 TDi or preferably the 5.0l V10 TDi.
Just need to buy second hand so someone else takes the depreciation hit.
But then again I would use it for towing not for posing and taking the kids to school.
Cheers

I run a X3 2.0D Sport as a Co car. Its no ball of fire thats for sure. I must admit I do like the thing. I'll admit you do have to work it hard to get much speed out of it but show it a twisting B road and it goes like a good thing.
The car can be really pushed into turns and even made to turn in sharp with a bit of a lift on the way in. The best thing about about it for me though is that it can hold a heck of a lot of kit and driven at a fair rate whilst still making 35MPG which IMO is no easy task, what else out there is doing it?
