why??? because since selling mine i can't make up my bloody mind what car to get next. and it seems i am not the only one on the forum who is struggling to get something to take its place.
my short list of cars reads like war and peace and ever solitary one comes with a list of cons that make the buying even harder...i.e
civic type r. bread van shape, you just know they have been ragged to perform.
integra type r. mates selling one..nice car..more of the above but sleeker
skoda fabia vrs. omg can i be seen in a skoda and a diesel after a wrx
golf gti turbo. the smart choice..but 150 bhp..big car..pffft...
golf v6 4 motion.ok now we are getting closer to the mark.but consumes fuel like chris moyles consumes pies..
seat leon cupra r. cant find one of the 210 bhp models for love nor money.
clio 172/182. rave reviews..but the reviewer always had the chance to hand it back before it fell apart.
peugeot 206 gti 180.overshadowed by the clio and falls about 400 ft short of the benchmark set by the 205 gti
evo v/vi. nice car..if you like 4.5k services and multi theft attempts.
this is a killer..seriously. im getting something by friday but its going to be yet another night trawling pistonheads and autotrader. stupid subaru!!

I had the same problem when I replaced my MY99 STI Type-R with a £27k Nissan 350Z........twelve months later I now own a MY03 STI PPP. For all the stick Impreza's get, you do get an awful lot of car for your money. Out of your list above I would personally go for the Honda Integra Type-R, a DC5 though.

That's the trouble with Subarus being such a good car, anything you buy next will seem like a step down.
The best thing is to decide what priorities you want from your next car, whether it is better fuel economy or performance say.
Whatever you choose their is not many cars that give you as good value for money as an Impreza.

I would go with the Integra Type R (DC5 or DC2, the later one looks very nice).
Pro's of the DC5 -
1. Very rare, the looks you get far surpass that of any scoobie
2. Handling and balance is superb for a front wheel drive
3. lightweight stripped out racer, you can hear and feel everything at 7/10's, isn't this was driving is about
4. Strong residuals
5. You get to belong to an exclusive club (as not many in the country)
Now I've hand one of these I would never go back to a 4wd car, scooby or Evo just won't tempt me back, every drive in the Integra feels special.
Each to their own though ;-)

maybe a bit gay and girlie after owning a scooby - but what about an elise?
Top notch handling, half the power but less than half the weight, and still has a nice note to it when you give it some stick.
Worthy of a good test run at least.
Theres also the RX8 - comes free with its own oil tanker though!!!!
TT

A mint old classic Quattro turbo.
Classic insurance policy, sounds better than a Scoob when on full chat, it's got pedigree and if kept in top condition doesn't lose value, plus it'll be quick and fun.
AND......you can pretend your Walter Rohrl or Ari Vatanen...!!

I had the same problem for the past 2 weeks. Lost sleep just thinking about the next car to get.
Now I am a happy man. My choice was the Honda s2000. Just one big smile every time I get in.

remapped vw golf gti 1.8 turbo. Good for 230/240bhp for a £500 remap (revo or custom code) and £400 exhaust. 230bhp in a 1250kg car = 0-60=6secs and 0-100=14.5
maybe another 300-500 to sort out the wallowy handling....
cheap insurance, 28-30mpg even after remap, Solid as a rock build quality, cheap to buy, now the mkv golfs are out.
If you had 1.5k to spend on a new turbo you can fit a KO3/KO4 Eliminator turbo from ATP
http://www.atpturbo.com/
Then you should see around the 300bhp with no loss of reliability......just loss of traction in every gear

GET A FABIA vRS - AS SEEN ON SCOOBYKILLERS.COM
Seriously though, you need to decide what you want out of a car. I went for the Fabia because I was sick of buying optimax for my thirsty 300hp Volvo T5 - I now get 35-55 mpg and can push 300hp Volvo T5's all the way through the first 5 gears before it starts to inch away.
No brainer really - but it isn't a drivers car, it is still diesel, and VAG and fwd - but £30 of diesel every 350 miles, and £400 fully comp balances out what I am missing.
If you don't go diesel, don't go VAG. Try a 350Z, RX8 or Honda S2000. If you need the space of a 4 door saloon, try a Volvo S60R, BMW 540 etc
Enjoy test driving everything under the sun though :d

I like a totally standard looking supra, with nice 18's but nothing else. they look sexy, even for a Jap car.
Veilside - sorry - for me looks cheap, tacky and very 1995.
