Help needed for next car?
Thinking of changing near christmas time, and need some suggestions.
1. Should have just over £30k to spend.
2. Must be able to seat 4 adults.
3. Must be fairly quick or when modded must be quick.
4.Car must have subtle styling, as it will be used for work purposes and pulling up in a Scooby or a Evo etc with a loud exhaust and big spoiler, would not go down to well.
Any decent cars that match those descriptions.

Would be a M3 for me unless you go for a evo 260 and push it to 300bhp
I ended up buying a small car for work and keeping the scoob

subaru legacy twin turbo. why? its big enough to fit your needs,it has all the performance you will need without fiddling with it..it looks far far more conservative than the imprezas and it will still ulitimatly put a big grin on your face without looking out of place in the works car park.

Brendan your right, Audi's dont seem quick at all, the power seems to be really smooth and not like the scoob, where the turbo kicks in and your pinned into your seat. Audi S4 sounds the best suggestion, but Ive also seen pictures of the brand new Golf R32 which looks nice.

I've never seen teh fascination with Golfs..... had a go in one (MY95 GTI 8V), and tbh, couldn't see what the fuss was all about. Much preferred the 205.....
Also been in the later VR whatist..... and <yawn>........
The R32 just doesn't look special - at the end of the day, it's still a souped-up Golf.
How about a used M5? you could probably get a decent 03/04 M5 for about 30K.......
OR for £38K you can have 6 series coupe

Ok don't laugh, but last week I had a drive in an (import of course) Nissan Skyline R34 GTT (thinking about it not sure if that is the model designation??).....4 door! It was, appart from the typical R34 front end, pretty subtle. No rear wing, and in black looked quite moody. It had a few engine mods mainly breathing. The exhaust was; I think he said, an unkown Japanese make. Sounded quite nice when pushing on yet not to loud at cruising. Plenty of room for four adults. Also coming with the 4wd Atssa system handled really well. I quite liked it. Ok the interior was not quite as plush as a Merc say, but all the gadgets (air con, leccy everything were pressent, and unlike a merc wil not go wrong). As for performance it felt pretty rapid for a big car, I'd say mid 6 seconds to 60 with a very healthey middrange. Of course a few under bonnet tweeks could see you driving a reall stealth machine.
Oh and if it is good enough for Ken 'monkey man' Nomura, then it cannot be all bad. After all his is the best sounding car on the planet . Not that that matters in this case of course.

Jaguar S Type R. 400 horsepower, 408 pound-feet of torque.
Looks quite menacing, without being over the top.

Oh and you get a three year warranty.
Whats the differance between the 3200 and the 4200 performance wise.

2nd hand 3200 seem to be going quite cheap.
Just saw a 2000 X-reg with 20k miles from a dealer for £23k. Much cheaper then a Audi S4 and much better looking,
