Default Daihatsu Charade giving Porsche 911 GT3 a hard time !

Go to www.8200rpm.com video section then look down the list for Porsche 993 RS, Nürburgring-Nordschleife and download the first video.

You'll get your first glimpse at around 5mins 56 seconds.

Considering ther cars chasing are a 911 GT3 and a 911 RS this car does an amazing job !! Seriously quick !

In places is seems the Daihatsu is actually pulling away ! Having sone some research its not a GTti but a turbo charge HCE motor so 4 cylinder 1.3 with about 150 brake ! Obviously a very good driver !

I know nothing about ring etiquette but it looked a bit dangerous the way they carved the daihatsu driver up

The Ring is a public road and therefore, all cars *should* be on the right unless overtaking. Yes, it is one way, but the police don't recognise a racing line when it comes to accidents.

Therefore, you must always overtake on the left. HTH

That did look bloody dangerous and if I was driving the Charade, (heaven ever forbid!) I would have had to go and have a word with them in the car park.

I remember getting wasted by one of these in my old clio 16v about 6-7 years ago. Proper Pocket Rocket.

LOL they certainly are

The one I had was only up to 130BHP, but that's 160 BHP/ton, bloody quick ten years ago! The tin foil bodywork keeps you honest

I looked at one of these years ago when i were a we nip of as lad, unfortunately the insurance put a stop to the purchase. however the car dealer swore blind that (in standard form) it was every bit as quick as an Astra GTE that he had on the forcourt, god knows what they are like when modified!! sounded a bit Quattro-ish with that 3 cylinder warble.

Allan; is it a retro-fitted turbo then, because I thought that the HC-E engine was normally aspirated? Is it fitted in a G100 or a G200 Charade?

Superb vids on that site - i thought the Porsche drivers were a bit naughty not letting the Daihatsu through though - probably worried it would waste both of them - lol.

Yes the Tim Stiles car was 225 BHP and the Adny Dawson works Rallys cars were 175bhp but could run 225bhp but the gearboxes were a little weak.

The H series enghines are NA as standard but can be turbocharged and some guys in Australis have over 200bhp at the wheels.

Hopefully we'll have a GTti at the JapShow with about 250bhp that should be running on the strip
