I dont think you will find much difference between S2000 insurance and a UK spec scoob. S2000 may well be more. £11k might get you a 99 high miler, but you could get a damn nice scoob for that money.

S2K actually cost quite a bit more than a uk scoob to insure.

I think for me a UK turbo was something like 700 quid (24 yrs), S2K was well over a grand .

I ahve has a STI Type RA V-Limted, and If i cant get a Jap Scooby again i want something else. No dis-respect to UK Scoobys, but i have been spoilt with the one i had.

I am 20 years old and my company insurance will get me up to a s200o level but there trying to work on a scooby for me, but i dont think there's much hope they said. Insurance will only cost me £300 for the year through my work. We have a Nice Black s20000 with about 40k on the clock i could have for about £11,500 www.riverdalecars.com

I hope that makes some sense!!!

Must be a jap import?

Out of that list the DC5 is a very good option indeed.

Can you get a DC5 for £12000??

The cheapest on autotrader is a 51 plate and thats £13000.

I also thought the DC5 was an import ONLY hence very expensive to insure!

I can get hold of one for £12,000, Insurance is not a problem as long as it's not a scooby or evo or something like that.

Why? Honda's aren't cheap to insure. Have you tried a quote?

Rule out the Celica. Couldnt peel the skin off a rice pudding!

I can get it on my works insurance for about £200 - £300 a year.

Celica 190BHP Jap import's aren't all that slow when you work the VVTi a bit, great handling car, better than the UK Car, they are setup more for track use than road use.

I weighs a lot and only has peak of 190 bhp - I expect a run of the mill Mundano could keep up with it! Not a lot of poke by modern standards.

Wouldn't touch a 190 with a barge pole...

I had one from new, and within a year and a half it had serious engine troubles (to the extent a metro could beat me off the mark).

I had one of the early 190's (suffered with the lifting bolts shearing off) - car was never the same after they "fixed" it under warranty...

Wouldn't have another...

DC5 every single time, although surley insurance wouldnt be the cheapest.

i still reckon the best 10k you could spend on a car these days a Clio 182. insurance is dirt cheap, cost bugger all to run and more smiles per mile that ANYTHING at that kinda money imo.

ive just sold mine after 12months of ownership and if i was in the market with that kinda money i buy another without blinking...

Seat Leon type R with a Revo 270 BHP reboost. Does 95% what a scooby can do, without the running costs and headaches.

If your life is spent on motorways and blasting up slip roads.

270 Bhp does begin to show the difference to FWD and AWD. Even 150Bhp hire cars I've had with FWD expose the limitations of some FWD chassis compared to AWD/RWD. Even *very* good FWD chassis struggle at 220+
