UK Mercedes registered in France - Advice??
Looking to buy a Merc from an official dealer, so found the car and now looking to strike a deal
He then mentions the car was first registered in France but is a full UK spec car and is not an issue.
What are peoples view on this? Is it normal or will it effect the price? Warranty etc?
Thanks in advance
J

would have thought that the warrenty will be fine. As for price, I would hope that it would be cheaper than a uk 1st supplied car (as all European cars seem to be). I bet that he purchased it cheaper than a uk car so he should be able to offer you a price saving. Just ask him m8

Back when I was in the forces a lot of Mercs used to be bought in Germany, Holland etc then imported back to the UK, they showed up as first registered overseas. The fact is if the first owner worked in some kind of diplomatic or NATO job they got the VAT off and a hefty discount - Merc quote 33% off UK price for 'diplomatic sales' - they used to be able to sell the car on after 6 months though I think its a year now. The dealers from south UK used to queue up for these cars and the people selling used to make a hefty profit too. The warranty, spec etc are exact UK but all the same I would push for a bigger discount.
