Default Cars you'd buy if you won the lottery

Not an exhaustive list, but I found this and one would definately be in my collection if I had a few million hanging around in the bank. I'd probably try and find a more original one with a Hemi, though

That Challenger was awesome, although I thought the wheels were just a little too big for my taste. Muscle cars rock

I'd go for an F40, countach, R34, 993 RUF TurboR, Carrera GT, Maclaren F1 and then i would top it off with a real F1 car, a recent one not a 70's one.

If I won the lottery, like the Irish lady with £77m, I'd get a normal everyday unassuming lookin' car, say a Clio 182. Then take it to Maclaren, Lotus, Prodrive, mecachrome, etc or some other motorsport development company. Then pay them to virtually rebuild everything up, engine, gearbox, suspension, interior, make it RWD, etc bespoke everything so that its complete, unique no expenses spared one off development thats looks standard, but very special underneath so shouldn't attract too much attention.

Topgear had Lotus do up Lada with £100k worth of mods, I would want to go a bit further.

Don;t think I could drive a supercar, everyone will just think tosser and you wouldn't be able to leave it anywhere.

Probably grab a new Subaru and take it to Prodrive and get all the bells and whistles done.

On a serious note the DB7 is nice - and I'm not knocking them but they use the Ford V6 engine rather than the actual Aston Martin Vanquish one ( I know why but it makes no sense to me). Tom Walkinshaw (spi) got a standard DB7, paid for a vanquish engine - got his guys to fit it and upgraded the breaks etc to suit. He then went to Aston and said effectively "I've cobbled one of these together but could you build me one?" and Aston said NO!!!.

I'd want to do a similar thing 'cause the same way that nothing on else sounds like a Scooby, there's nothing in the world that sounds like a Vanquish engine.....(you can tell I've put some thought into this ).

A Hummer, all that money to look like Tim Westwood !

A week or two ago a guy turned up outside the Chinese takeaway in a H2, it was quite impressive but he looked really embarassed.

i think the key here is to avoid looking like a lottery winner/football player, hence humungous American SUV's are out. My mate Saw Rio Ferdinand stop for a butty near Old Trafford the other day in an Escalcade, the lazy greedy **** parked on the double yellow lines thus causing an obstruction right near a busy junction, ***.

Sorry to hear that

Just out of interest, how much does an H1 cost at the moment and does anywhere in the Uk sell them?

H1 would be my choice of 4x4, preferably a US military spec one though as i'd be taking it offroad regularly.

Money no object. It would probably have to be summat like an Audi RS6 for day to day use. Not sure if i'd go for exotica even if budget was unlimited, if i did it would be something like a Lambo or Ferrari for cruising and doing the Gumball in.

Ther's always one sheep who's watched 'Gone In 60 Seconds' once too often The original GT500, was an overweight POS, the one built for GISS was about as original as 90% of the Cobras knocking around! The GT350 is acknowledged as being the peak of the Mustang development

One NIICE motor, but personally I'd rather have the GTO they did for Lance Armstrong

My own lottery win list would include a nice Lister XJC, a Zonda C12F and something by Benz ending in 55

1968 le mans Ford Gt43 ( a gt40 with 3 inch bubble in roof ), the exhaust note of that is electrifying.

I'd probably build my own car

Ingredients:

Forthcoming GM 7.0 LS7 engine (very lightweight- think Rover V8 with 505bhp/470lbft 7000rpm redline and modern fueling+ignition as standard), may supercharge it or nitro it if that isn't enough.

Tremec T56 six speed box

Tubular Aluminium space frame chassis (not your crappy steel box section aka - caterfields/cobra replicas ) - Think Arial Atom, but front engined and aluminium instead of steel. Usual double wishbone affair front and rear, all fully adjustable of course and the biggest brakes that'll fit (bearing in mind the weight saving)

I'll think about the bodywork after the chassis is designed

Also:

I might have to visit Jay leno and buy his "tank car" --> http://www.myclassiccar.com/MCCTV/20.../jayleno.shtml

Then I'll have a GT40 original and a new one
Some sort of early V12 Ferarri (after I've test driven them all - love the noise of them Daytonas).
Maybe a Lamborghini Muira to compliment it too
Full Military spec Hum Vee for romping over my private game reserves
A '67 pontiac GTO (modified to handle stop and go even faster )
A pimped XJ-S street sleeper to be mildy discreet - but retro fitted with the latest DB7 GT suspension and brakes, manual box, maybe the AM v12 too, or a stick with the V12 but heavily modified and adding modern fueling and ignition

Then for everyday use a selection of "lesser cars" to tootle about in:

Fleet of BMW M5/M6s (e24, e28, e34, e39, e60 and e63). Plus M-coupe and maybe an M3CSL as well.

Late '90s/early 00's Bentley Continental T (NOT a GT, I repeat NOT a GT ) but running a little more boost than stock)

SLK55 AMG for those hairdresser days oh and a Carerra GT
One of those Dodge RAM v10 pick trucks
late 80's Porsche 911 Carrera Supersports
1973 Carrera RS and a 1974 Carrera RSR, a GT2 and a GT3
Original 60's Mini Cooper S maybe a 900cc cooper aswell (they were quicker off the mark than the 1275 apprently ).
Full blown spec HSV Monaro

....Have I run out of Money yet? :

Yeah, I am with Ali B, its not what car you could buy, its what bits could you buy, what could you create, any muppet who wins the lottery can go and buy a factory built car but it needs someone with an imagination and skill to create their own.

How about a MK1 Capri, spaceframed with all modern hi spec underpinnings but standard body lines, it was my first car which I loved but I wouldnt want a standard original MK1 (save for perhaps an RS 3.1) as they are slow and ponderous, I dont really do the classic car thing due to this but a modern remix would be superb.

I would end up with a garage of reasonably cheap (by lottery winner standards, sub 10 grand) iconic cars, all with subtle, sympathetic performance enhancements.

MK1 Golf GTI
Pug 205 GTI
S1 RST
Capri Tickford
Vauxhall Magnum
UQ Quattro
Audi 200 Quattro
Opel Manta
Strada 130
Early M5
An original Mini, perhaps a Clubman estate with proper running gear, just to be different.
TR8
Some kind of Hot Rod
A really ratty Roller, hand painted purple
A Taxi like Bez's (pre pimp style)
1960's Caddlllac Hearse/Ambulance, think Ghostbusters
Renault Fuego turbo (Dont know why)
Pimpin 80's Merc 560 SEC, full on Arab Sheik style.
Commer van (those where the wheels almost touch in the middle)
A Cortina (used to go to school in my mates dads brand new 'Carosel')
Reliant three wheeler, purely for picking the kids up from their posh school when they have annoyed me !
A lowrider with hydraulics
A De-Lorean
Something ex millitary, plus all the uniform
A Vulcan for the front lawn, front end of a 747 just to poke round the corner to confuse passers by

In fact anything that will annoy or confuse the Merc/Porsche/BMW/Ferrari driving snob residents of Cheshire.

Plus a track built in my huge garden for me and a few choice mates to do Mickey Caroll style aggro with old bangers, obviously well away from other people though, buy all the manky old Capri injections off Ebay for use on there.

Nothing too pricey for me ...

Vauxhall Firenza droopsnoot
Fleet of Capri's one of every model made
Shelby Cobra 427 and the 289
Shelby GT500
Dodge charger 68 and 69 440 R/T's
Another Delorean
Plymouth Superbird
79 Black Transam (think smokey and the bandit)
78 Cadillac Eldarado (think smokey and the bandit again)
Renault 5 Turbo 2 (the wide ***'d rear engine one)
RS500 Sierra Cossie
Series 1 RS turbo (original)
Citreon DS convertable (just for looks)

And blow the rest on one off custom Choppers from the states

Thought about this many times

I reckon:

Aston Martin DB9 - everyday flash motor
Audi RS6 estate - shopping and taking the dog for a walk
Caterham / Noble - for track day fun
Zonda - just because I could
Clio V6 - as above
Small collection of classic rally cars - Audi Quattro, Integrale, Stratos
Membership of Damen Hill's P1 Club so I could drive all the other cars i've forgotten about

A new house with a lot of garages would also be a priority

Edit to include a Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster after watching Top Gear

When I win I'm going straight to my local Landrover dealer and picking up a top of the range Rangie with all the whistles and bells in black then will go straight to the estate agents and buy a house with big garage and driveway then go off and order:

997 911 C4S in black
SWB Defender in black
TVR 350C in black probably

Then I'll hire a man to wash them all on a regular basis
