Looking at an A6 Avant 2.5 Tdi SE tomorrow - its a 6 speed manual 2WD.
The Quattros seem to demand a couple to three more grand - worth the extra? Is there less space in a quattro due to rear diff etc under boot?

Definitely nice to have, but I'd question that it's worth £3k more - the differential wasn't that great when they were new!

Given it's the 150hp version (or is it the 180), I can't honestly say that quattro is essential - it was nice on my 2.8quattro sport, but only really needed in deepest winter.

There wont be any difference in rear load space.. IIRC they build these cars ready to take Quattro, if its taken then the space underneath is used, if not then its left empty.

I would definitely NOT pay 3k difference to have 4WD instead of the FWD!! If you live somewhere where it gets very icy/snowy in the winter then you may need the added grip it will provide, but if its not something that you require then enjoy higher MPG and less tyre wear... oh and save 3k!?!

Spoke to someone who had driven the 2wd, who said it was very skittish, and he'd recommend the 4WD.
I am driving a 2wd tonight, so will check this out. It's a 2001 so I think its 180 Bhp.
If I get 25 mpg i'll be laughing after my VR4
