Audi A4 2.5TDi Quattro Sport Avant (180bhp)
Looking at one of these at local dealer. Took a test drive today and felt quick and V6 sounded good for a diesel. They also seem as rare as rocking horse **** when looking for them.
Gearbox was a bit clunky and steering a bit light but overall liked it a lot. Stealer is asking 16995 for an 02 plate with 25k miles.
Is this a fair price (they wont budge) and anyone got any experience of one (if so , what sort of mpg do you get?)
Cheers

Not driven the 180 version but drove the earlier version. Nice V6 sound and decent performance but most owners struggle to get more than mid 30's mpg and high 20's mpg around town.
If your going diesel for fuel economy then the PD130 has to be the choice, a tuning box will give 160bhp and a remap over 180bhp while still getting 45-50mpg if driven normally.
If economy isn't your main concern and then the 2.5V6 diesel is a good unit.
The new 3litre V6 is a mile ahead of the 2.5 though, an absolute gem of an engine.
Cheers

I went through this just the last few weeks. The 2.5 V6 is a great drive but I needed a change from the scoob for economy reasons so went for the 130SE. It's not too bad at all and I'm planning a remap with Angel to get 180ish out of it. Economy so far has been over 50mpg still on my first tank after 600 miles with 1/4 left.
It's no scoob tho...

Ive driven a 2.5 180 Bhp A4 n have to say was excellent. German engineering is very high in its perfectionism.
Regarding price I think its about right depending on what the mileage is.

The one I tried was a very nice example with leather recaros and bose:

Newer but with more miles. Cheaper tho!

Thanks for all the comments..
It is partly for economy reasons - my RX8 averages 19 so even 30mpg is a 50% improvement
The other reason is we've moved out into the sticks and I dont think my RX8 will able to get near my house at all with the first sight of snow and ice.
I'd have another scoob, but its down to the economy thing again. The A4 is a quattro, and AWD will hopefully be a big advantage in the bad weather.
If I want a remap I can go to AMD (or wherever) and get 210bhp and over 300 lbft anyway

I've just signed up for a 78Kmiles A4 2.5 quattro.
best bit is; on the test drive the climate control packed up, glow plug light came on AND it is only 2k away from a cambelt change
BUT
they have offered to sort ALL of it
Mainly as I walked out and said they could call me if they were preapred to sort it, otherwise forget it
8.5K too

I bought this one privately in the end
It's a December 2003 A4 2.5TDi V6 Avant Quattro Sport 180bhp with the GmbH Bodykit, 17"s, Leather/Alcantara Trim, Audi Symphony 6-CD and Centre Armrest. Only done 20k miles and looks as new.
First couple of tanks averaging 35-37mpg on my normal driving with no long runs, which is much better than the 19mpg of my RX-8
