DC2 was available in the UK until late 2000 on an X plate.

Arguably the best front wheel drive chassis of its time, and still one of the best.

I had a late 2000 car, in black. Utterly reliable, stunning chassis, amazing engine and plenty of torque in reality, despite what the figures say.

Highly recommended.

Make sure you get an original, unmodified one. Generally speaking, aftermarket inlets/exhausts and wheels just screw it up.

The engine runs to almost 9,000 rpm - the original kit has to be pretty efficient to work at those engine speeds.

thats my old 98 black type r, rare in black too....amazing handling,and lovely grunt.. had hks coilovers with hks super drager exhaust and manifold,very reliable fun car

I have a '00 X plater at the moment, and agree completely with Diablo, get a clean unmolested one if poss and just get out there and drive it

Superb car for a front driver.


Perfectly liveable as a daily runner too, despite what the press and other wimps might say.

I've got a 98 S one.

If it's a uk model your after they were available from 98-2000 in DC2 form. Your 7k should get you a 98/99 model, Look out for mods, big wheels spoil handling, exhausts and induction kits can lose power. Available in white originally then from 99 in red and black. Personally I like white the best but then I own a white one so I'm biased!

Very good car to drive, low down pull is surprisingly decent for a vtec much better than the civic vti I had a couple years ago, handling is excellent as is the general feel of the car.

Probably one of the most excellent cars I've ever owned. Handling is great, noise is brilliant, though it can feel as though it needs more power at times - just head for the twisties though and you'll forget about it!

One of the best cars I've ever owned. If you are looking for a comfortable drive though don't get one. The suspension is rock hard and at motorway speeds its seriously noisy place to be (absolutely fantastic to me though!! ).

For driving excitement it is simply awesome, you really feel special driving it even though in terms of cost they can be picked up for around the 7-8k mark.

Would still be driving mine now if it wasnt for the age problem (6 yrs old when I got rid) .If they ever officialy release the new model in the UK I would chop my scooby in straight away and go back to a teg. After nearly a year of scooby ownership id still jump ship cos I miss it like hell.

One of my best m8's has one (DC2), only mods an induction kit. Also he is running on a nice sticky set of advans.

We recently have had many an opportunity to drive it back to back against my highly tuned CTR (JRSC 280fly hp) uprated suspension etc. In real world conditions there is nothing in it performance wise, and in the twisties he was allways a 'tad' faster. The tegs steering and chassis inspires more confidence for sure. There is nothing wrong with the Civics grip, but the slightly numb steering (even with adjusted geometry which helps somewhat) lets it down in comparison.

Also the fact that I have not yet fitted my LSD (quaif) does not help.

Exiting a roundabout and both flooring it down a duel carriageway I only managed to get past him at 70-80 mph where my extra midrange and top end (also the extra gear) helped.

All in all I was mightily impressed, If I had a JDM CTR I am sure it would have been closer handeling wise due to the addition of the diff and stiffer roll bars.

My mate has recently bought an imported DC5 in white. Lovely car and nice interior too, a vast improvement on the DC2 that he owned before.
