A 996 is a reasonably practical car for a couple. It has enough luggage space for a weekend, possibly even a week away, and regular stuff such as weekly shopping is not a problem. A stock 996TT with X50 pack though is probably a better bet if you want all-weather practicality and occasional rear seats.

Wife drives faster than i do! (I drive fast - ask Bob Rawle)
And she has been over 200 mph in a car (no I am not kidding She has been at 240mph in Swedish car!!)
and this is serious for anyone that knows me
I have been in a 400bhp Evo and a 600 bhp Skyline - and you do not want to know what the wife thought..............
Budget 80k

Must do a tonne in less than 9 seconds......hmmmmm
Is your wife some serious track day driver ? I really can't understand why an earth you would require that a specific performance time......
to me on a public road, it is obscene if you really require that performance stat.
btw what was she driving at 240 mph then ? a Koenigsegg ?

Steve,
You wanna be spending your money on developing your driving skills for yourself and your misses.
A good driver in a 450-550bhp is gonna hammer most of the cars mentioned above anyway.
