Practical and fast? Don't often go together. I wouldn't call a 996 practical personally.

A 996 is a reasonably practical car for a couple. It has enough luggage space for a weekend, possibly even a week away, and regular stuff such as weekly shopping is not a problem. A stock 996TT with X50 pack though is probably a better bet if you want all-weather practicality and occasional rear seats.

I suppose it's more practical that a caterham or suchlike.

Are you seriously going to get your wife a tuned GT2? She must have really pi55ed you off

I'm not sure it would be that easy to get an RS6 to do 0-100mph in under 9secs. As standard it's about 11.5secs, and upgrading pst 550bhp - which you'd probably need to do - gets very expensive. Anyway the 996 is a better drivers car, so unless you need the rear seats and massive luggage space would be a better bet than the RS6.

Get an Ultima! 0-100 in 5.5 and will do around 230mph. Plus you'll have plenty change to spend on a trailer so it's nice and practical :-)

Must do a tonne in less than 9 seconds......hmmmmm

Is your wife some serious track day driver ? I really can't understand why an earth you would require that a specific performance time......

to me on a public road, it is obscene if you really require that performance stat.

btw what was she driving at 240 mph then ? a Koenigsegg ?

Steve,

You wanna be spending your money on developing your driving skills for yourself and your misses.

A good driver in a 450-550bhp is gonna hammer most of the cars mentioned above anyway.
