450+bhp scoob too slow?

Lookinng to buy 2nd hand Porsche GT2 and modify
and alternatives?
Wife wants a fast car so it must do minimum 0-100 in undr 9 secs

and comments - must be reasonably practical!

and yes I have owned previous modded 450- bhp Cossie so NO

TopBanana 18 July 2005 09:46 PM

Practical and fast? Don't often go together. I wouldn't call a 996 practical personally.

dannytwo 18 July 2005 09:51 PM

try an audi RS4 or RS6 practical and powerful and reasonably easy to mod:D

GCollier 18 July 2005 09:52 PM

A 996 is a reasonably practical car for a couple. It has enough luggage space for a weekend, possibly even a week away, and regular stuff such as weekly shopping is not a problem. A stock 996TT with X50 pack though is probably a better bet if you want all-weather practicality and occasional rear seats.

GT2, GT3 RS, Cerbera, Westy Megabusa?

Gary

TopBanana 18 July 2005 09:56 PM

I suppose it's more practical that a caterham or suchlike.

Are you seriously going to get your wife a tuned GT2? She must have really pi55ed you off

I'm not sure it would be that easy to get an RS6 to do 0-100mph in under 9secs. As standard it's about 11.5secs, and upgrading pst 550bhp - which you'd probably need to do - gets very expensive. Anyway the 996 is a better drivers car, so unless you need the rear seats and massive luggage space would be a better bet than the RS6.

Gary.

The Chief 18 July 2005 10:02 PM

Get a hayabusa ;)

G4RUD 19 July 2005 11:37 AM

Get an Ultima! 0-100 in 5.5 and will do around 230mph. Plus you'll have plenty change to spend on a trailer so it's nice and practical :-)

Fabioso 19 July 2005 11:08 PM

Must do a tonne in less than 9 seconds......hmmmmm

Is your wife some serious track day driver ? I really can't understand why an earth you would require that a specific performance time......

to me on a public road, it is obscene if you really require that performance stat.

btw what was she driving at 240 mph then ? a Koenigsegg ? :)

SPEN555 19 July 2005 11:21 PM

Steve,

You wanna be spending your money on developing your driving skills for yourself and your misses.

A good driver in a 450-550bhp is gonna hammer most of the cars mentioned above anyway.

C 8HEP 20 July 2005 12:58 PM

oh barabus merc! good choice! its gotta have 600bhp what ever it is minimum.so ur best off getting car u are comfy in then tuning it!
