Defo the Hdi

The old Tdi engined fords are bit old and clanky...better off having the newer TdCi versions (same old clanky engine just with better gizmos to make it faster )

tcdi eh..........right.
My xsaras steering is irritatingly 'heavy' i think - my bro in law commented on it as well - (he has diesel 306). Apparently steering handling....and,back road comfort is better on 306 than focus.

tdci...tcdi erm LOL you've got me confused now

Lift the bonnet and I'll tell you which one is which ...look at the badge and I'm lost

I'll be back when I've worked it out

Handling and ride is personal preference really, I can't find much difference between them really. Pug has a bit more feel to it, but I have more confidence when pushing the focus hard.

Which power version 306 and if TDCi Focus which power version?

But generally,

306HDi Vs Focus TDi = 306HDi

306HDi Vs Focus TDCi = Focus TDCi

Cheers

Yeah I was right:

1.8 Tdi: old fashioned Turbo diesel = 88 Bhp

1.8 TdCi: newer common-rail turbo diesel = 98Bhp

1.8 TdCi: as above with intercooler = 113bhp

Obviously the latter two are the ones to go for

Last edited by ALi-B; 05 July 2005 at 05:31 PM. Reason: I lost 8bhp ;)

The TDCi's are 100bhp or 113bhp.

yup noticed I lost 8bhp somewhere (ford figures are rounded and are in PS )

Erm thinking about it now you've mentioned it, is it the Tdi that had no intercooler and both TdCi's had intercoolers. Arrgh! As I said before lift the bonnet and I'll tell you which is which

Yep IIRC that has an intercooler

But you can't get that engine in a 306 which is the 90bhp Hdi without a intercooler or the old non-Hdi engines(which did have an intercooler : ).
