Standard they came with 210 upto 2001 and then 225 from then onwards.

Ecu re-maps will see this go upto 270bhp and increase torque to 280lbsft..........I just sold my Tek2 00MY turbo and bought one, re-mapped it and it does indeed fly.

In Standard form they have 200lbft torque all the way from 2500-5000 rpm a very flat torque 'curve'.

In chipped form they have around 280lb/ft by 3200rpm dropping to 240lb/ft by 5800rpm, so pulling out of corners they are superb either way with great in gear flexiblilty too.

Thought about getting one a few years ago, when they upped the BHP to 225. One of the first things I would have done is get it chipped. Very nice cars, but at the time 26K was a bit too much on top of getting a new flat.

I know JBS have just taken a Skoda Octavia over the 420 bhp mark, without gas. The 1.8t's are very tuneable.......

Having said that though, the standard car [210 i went in] is warm, but not particually fast IMO.

Agree with that, in standard form no big kick just warmly pulls through the rev range, with a chip, nice low down kick that really does transform the car.

If you need to map any VAG stuff, i have been very impressed with the results of the custom code software http://custom-code.co.uk/:

Elise S160 (more feedback than you can wish for) but sold it after 5 months as was a tad impractical for everyday !

Then got a Clio cup (sh*t build but loads of fun & feedback) also now sold.

Currently got a 306 GTI 6 which was dirt cheap, goes pretty well and handling is sublime, bargain.....but a porker is calling.........
