This made me smile. Most of us have had a little play from time to time with other cars but on the road its usually the guy who takes the risks that wins out. Not saying thats a good thing but these "I beat so and so" threads are more likely to be best read "I decided to drive like an idiot and endangered other road users in an effort to win"

It looked fairly hardcore - 15" wheels, no huge bodykit and some seriously low suspension

Obvisously the STi was watching the Road ahead and braking, unlike Chav the Rev counter I reckon do or die Chav has fed his Braincells to his pet Goldfish

Like some of the dozen or more Imprezas on the A93 between Glenshee and Perth on Sunday. F***ing idiots. Overtaking at high speed on blind bends and over blind summits is not clever by any stretch of the imagination.

I was glad to see that Taysides finest pulled them all over in Blairgowrie.

The guy even admits in his thread to having a few bad accidents.........WTF is all that about. People usually have one and learn the error of their ways. Unfortunately it seems this lad is only going to learn when he's in a wheel chair or worse.

Lets hope he doesn't take anyone else with him!!!

I had a Calibra Turbo (red top) once. Only mods were induction kit, straight through zorst and a superchip. Never had it rolling road tested but it was fast and not to be laughed at. Can't say I ever took on a scooby but most cars I raced (cosworths included) were fair game.
Was a great car......... Then I blew a piston

I second that. Came up against a white calibra turbo the other night. He wanted to play, so I let him past and prepared to give him a pasting........

Don't worry, I didn't loose! But by chr*st, can they shift! But I suppose, if you do the math, there really isn't that much in it, when rolling atleast.
My sti is running around the 300bhp mark, so if he had, say 250bhp, he had a chance!

It really bugs me when impreza owners think that their cars are better than anyone else's!

This happens to me most time (not that many..!) I show any interest in haviing a go. They nearly always jump the lights, squeeze through a closing gap in the traffic, undertake at wild speeds etc, etc, etc....!

It seems very few people are prepared to have a genuine head to head without taking serious risk. Hence the dwindling number of times I do indulge (especially when sods law dictates that when, once in a blue moon, something interesting does want a proper play the wife's usually in the car ripping the seat bolsters to shreds....!)

arr wish i hadn't started that lol

i used to have a cav turbo (same engine as the calibra) and they're pretty quick tbh. the engines were designed by cosworth and 300bhp on a pretty thrifty budget is realistic and achievable.

the problem is they really are big lardy barges tho - top end a 300bhp one will leave virtually any spec scooby behind as the calib is a slippery as a greased stoat but the weight hampers the acceleration a lot (1450kg ish iirc).

the reason i linked it was the inordinate amount of chavness which has taken over migweb now - it's like a suburb out there

Yup I too have been there and had a Cav turbo which got modified a touch, when I got the STi2 Wagon it was quick as std but nowhere near the Cav. That soon changed though. serious Vauxhall tuning is every bit as "cult" to the owners as Scoob tuning.

Homage to P1WR on...

Don't forget that a Cavalier with Koni Springs can out drive an Impreza, esp round the corners.

I have just brought a UK turbo

And just sold my Calibra Turbo. The calibra shouldnt be under rated. Mine was running 260 bhp and you dont have to spend a lot of money to get 300 bhp out of one.

even on a standard 205 bhp the 0-60 is 6.4 secs and a tuned on around the 5 sec mark.

I know the diffence in build quality and price is significant but they are still a fast 4WD car what ever way you look at it

I'll get my coat
