Question Anyone point me at a good Renault Sport Website?

Of course I will always hang around here.... (I used to have a modded MY99)

BUT i'd like to find some good Renault Sport specific sites.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Peter

Cliosport.net is where most of the clio bods hang out, many V6 owners there.

Guy who runs the speciliast garage I take the 172 is on there, he has a mk1 V6 with a nice bit of nitrous to go with it

So if you are anywhere near devon (unlikely but hey) his place is good for servicing etc, trust them way more than a dealer.

I've been nosing around "cliosport.net" for a while. It does seem to be the best I can find. Anyone else got any other sites?

Oh and cheers for the tip re: dealer in Devon. A bit far tho for servicing etc.

Cheers

Is St. John's near Woking in Surrey any good? SMC Renualt have a garage there and they are very good. They serviced the Phase 1 V6 that Evo Magazine ran a few years back and they always wrote good things abouth them.

I think Cliosport.net is your best bet. renaultsportsclub.co.uk caters for the Max Power brigade ie Clio RN's with daft bodykits and alloys

Could also try reanultsportc.o.uk. Official Renault Sport community and once registered you can use the Forums.

I am currently looking at buying a MKII v6 also. How do you rate it now you have had a bit of time to get used to it. I have had a couple of Imprezas incl. P1 and fancy trying out the v6 and RWD. I test driven a couple but you don't get the cars true characteristics in 30 mins.

I also would love owners to explain the Clio v6 thing. I drove an early mk1 and thought it was quite quick and sounded fantastic - but i wouldn't have considered it a drivers car ?!?! Are they quite involving, do they handle well - good balance !?!?

Sorry to go slightly off topic ?

I was on Cliosport.net when i had my Clio cup.

To be honest i felt it was full of young immature, narrow minded chavs.

There was the odd decent guy/post on there by in large it was junk.

Having said that, if you want to talk about racing novas against 500bhp clio 16v's which have been "slammed" and set on 19's past schools at 15.00 pm then it may be your cup of tea.

Regards
Jonathan

The MkII is a very different car to the MkI, not just the BHP increase either.
For me, it is just something I have had on the list of things to try. Unfortunately the MkI, when it was first released, got bad reviews and wasn't what I was looking or hoping for in a 'drivers' car. However, when the MkII came out it renewed my interest This coupled with the great review Clarkson gave it on Top Gear and more importantly the fantastic review it got in EVO mags ECOTY and long term fleet reports from John Barker has further increased my interest in trying one. Main criteria for me is sound and I think the V6 behind your head is great. I don't want 4wd and I don't want fwd...done that. So the Clio hits the mark. I will be buying a low mileage 2nd hand example and let someone else take the big depreciation hit, run it for a year and maybe try something different in 12 months, a M3 CSL, Cayman S, Noble, TVR T350?

Sadly it is very much like that, Renault Sports Club used to be good years ago but it went that way as well

I just lurk on Cliosport and occasionally post when I see something really stupid.

My pet hate on there is noone reads any service books, I'm sure you'll see a "why've you changed your cam belt before 72k?" post in no time at all (72k OR 5 YEARS READ THE DAMN BOOK).

Ok so only had mine for 2 weeks (one weekend) BUT here goes the report so far.

Looks - AMAZING so rare and purposeful in the flesh.
Sound - Not sure outside car, quite quiet I think. Sounds lovely in the car. A rumble low down to a roar at high revs.
Steering - The rack is a little slow, and the lock is POO. But feedback good.
Brakes - AMAZING after my old MY99 (with 4pots)
Gearbox - Nice positive action and well spaced ratios.
Clutch - Quite heavy but nothing to worry about (maybe mine is a little tired)
Throttle response - Immediate excellent.
Torque - Good from tickover pulls immediately.
Engine Power - Very linear delivery, rises rapidly, strangely dissapointing after turbo mid range punch. Not sure why. I think its the HUGE torque my old scoob had so low (270lb/ft @3000RPM).
Interior - OK. Like a well put together colour coded 182.
Handling - Seems very good. A little twitchy under power in the wet (only to be expected), BUT LOADS of dry grip. Slight tendency to understeer ultimately. Much more involving that my old Scoob (which had a fair but of suspension work done on it (bumpsteer, ALK, ARB, laser alignment, etc ).
Speed - Quick, but deceptively so. Without the mid range turbo hit, and with linear power delivery the speed rises almost without you noticing!

Overall highly recommended.

I'm looking forward to the long weekend!

Peter
