Default Clio 172 or 242???

Is this guy talking b0llocks?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...550691826&rd=1

An ECU from an Elise is either Rover or Toyota (I would have thought) and will have no use on a Renault engine. Why not remap what's there?
Looks like there is some air inlet work but 70bhp with an ECU change????

Prepared to be told its possible but unless he's running avaition fuel I'm a serious doubter....

The Elise uses the Rover MEMS unit as far as I am aware, which wont work on a Renault, they rarely even work on Rovers !

If it sounded plausible, like it was running throttle bodies, wild cams, blueprinted etc etc you might give him the benefit of the doubt but still be sceptical but the guy seems to know knothing other than verbal diarrhea.

However, check out his feedback, sounds like he has some happy customers, the Clio does look to be a nice car, but 242 bhp is a little bit much for us anoraks to swallow.

Super 1600 rally cars produce about 225bhp with 400cc less, so it's possible.

LMAO So, take a 172bhp engine with 86bhp/litre add an exhaust, filter and chip and its got 242bhp with 121bhp/litre. I get it............this is how Niels cup passed me What a load of ***** - the power claim is so far out it hurts!

I might try and fit an RS4 ECU to my fabia. Would have thought 300hp is achievable - lmao.

Tis a tidy car though !

So I'm not going mad then - felt the urge to send a questioning email but there's no point... I guess you can have as may bhp as you want as long as you don't dyno or race it - and that car will have 242bhp until then

He's got a great "get out" clause, "Look Guv!! it was what I was told by the previous owner"........I think we can all draw conclusions from that one on how accurate the bhp figure is likely to be

What a load of sh*t no way would it work if you stuck an Elise ECU on a clio plus even if you did get it working its never going to give you 242 bhp it more likely lower it as the engine wouldnt run properly!

You would only be getting those type of power gains if you stuck throttle bodies cams and so on or stuck a turbo on it.

Very odd IMHO..!

I know Nick Hill of Hill Power (Renault Clio specialist) and at best he'd be gald of anything over 200bhp with throttle bodies, mad cams, basically the full works.

How can this guy claim 242bhp and still retain 38mpg..!!! Oddly the 138mph hasn't changed either..!

Finally, why, when someone asks a perfectly reasonable question about other mods, does this guy say 'no more Q's about power'..!

Barge pole comes to mind....
