Im am sick to the teeth of sitting in the huge traffic queues on my way to work every day, and want to get something thats got all the comforts, a decent amount of go, and is automatic, and preferable diesel, alternatively a relatively economical petrol auto.

No idea what to look at in this market sector, suppose Beemers, but am not a fan of them, anything else come to mind?

Mercedes make nice diesel auto's. If you want new you need to be looking at the new focus. The combo of diesel and auto is usually only available in the bigger prestigious stuff rather than your fords / Vauxhalls etc.

I loved my Volvo for sitting in traffic though. Often a nice alternative a volvo ?!?!

If you want luxury, the 530d is rather nice.
