They never made a tea-pot turbo, only a 2.0 16v which was very good the time.

There is a turbo'd one on the Fiat Coupe website, its fitted with the Integrale/Fiat Coupe turbo motor, not a factory job, I think standard boost on one of these is about 0.9 bar or therabouts but being as it isnt factory, who knows if thats what you are looking at, i.e. a Teapot with a Coupe engine, bet it would be quick !

The only standard Tipo with a turbo from the factory was the Turbo Diesel.

Standard boost on the 'grale engine is 1.2 bar. That in a Tipo would be excellent fun

They made a turbo tipo,it was a 1.9 diesel, not sure on boost level but i have a punto jtd and that runs 12 psi from about 1500 rpm (soon to have a bit more when time permits) and it leaves alot of cars disapearing when catching them out, loads of low down torque.

I have been riding round in a Fiat TIPO TURBO to go to the farm, heavy loads, dirty work and some long distance etc since Nov. 01. It says Tipo DGT Turbo Deisel in the log book and Tipo Tdi on the boot lid and it has a turbo at the other end as I have been playing with that too. So they must have made at least one.
The car has an electronic dash but the boost guage stops at 1 bar and there is a red light comes on about .8 bar.

What pressure are they good for?

Well i am going to up my boost until i find the fuel cut then work from there, dont know if you will have a fuel cut on the tipo as its not common rail so fit a knocklink and turn it up till it rattles and lights all ya lights up then back it off a bit !!!!! then add a bit of oil to fuel to help it.

Well I added a bit of fuel and then a bit more boost but the guage only went to 1 bar so I now have another guage that goes to 2 bar. When I fitted it, I found I had 1.6 bar and no rattles.
I had to take the inlet manifold off to get to the alternator so I have ported that. Then when I blew the exhaust I thought that rather than fit a standard system I could improvise a bit and ported the manifold too. That upped the boost a little more. So I added a bit more fuel but it was still over fueled so out of interest I upped the boost again and it still has plenty fuel at 2 bar and no fuel cut. Because it is still rich it could take more boost to clean up the exhaust but the guage only goes to 2 bar. There is still a little left in the turbo.
Does a Knock Link work on a deisel? I had assumed that as it is compression ignition the K/L would be lit all the time on power. I have a new spare K/L in the garage.
Once warmed up this engine is quiet, just a little smokey.

2 bar, usually on most factory fit turbos there is no way 2 bar would be sustained but on a diesel I dont know, does it go all the way to the redline ?

Have you had hoses popping off all over the place ?

I know on most petrol turbos that 2 bar would be madness but do you get the same det problems on diesels.

Is it fast ?

No pipes coming off or problems of any other sort although understandably it does like a drink. Best economy 42-43 mpg but 34 mpg in a real hurry. I have also done some interesting experiments with "enhanced" fuels.
Runs to the red line up a long hill in 5th at 4,300 and keeps going with no sign of slowing down so I use a self imposed limit of 122mph on the digital speedo, well into the red.
Fast? Ask some VW GTi16v, Saxo/S3 etc that get blown into the weeds. Only thing that tells you it is not an old beat up Fiat is a couple of guages inside or 2.5 deg neg camber on the back axle outside. Handles well to.

S3, as in Audi S3, er they are 225 bhp, I would imagine that the Tipo is fairly quick given whats been done to it but I am fairly sceptical about blowing S3's into the weeds, having driven one or two S3's I can vouch for them being pretty quick.

I am not saying it is quicker than an S3 but if they see a Tipo and get taken by surprise they don't understand what is happening. Mid range it will have far more torque than any S3. I am sure Dave (DRB5) was shocked with the turn of speed and I had to slow down for him to stay in contact.
Anyway what are the boost limit considerations on a deisel and is a knock link applicable on a deisel/

Rich AFRs increase the EGT unlike with a petrol engine. EGT is I understand the main limit to diesel tuning. A few links from the company that has done 200+ mph diesel pickups:

i borrowed the afore mentioned tipo when i was stuck for a motor, i was given no warning as to the engine in it as it just looked like a stock tipo diesel.

i remember pulling out of harvey's drive and getting a shock as the tipo threw me back in my seat

i just wasn't expecting that sort of power delivery from a diesel never mind a fiat

i should have known really as it is one of harveys motors!!!

Don't think I can get any more boost now. (GBE valve) The added boost and removed air cleaner has cleaned up the exhaust so it is not as black. Have a bit of trunking in place of the O/E air box/intake. Do not want to add any more fuel but there is still capacity in the pump.
Running up to 2 bar on pump deizle and it goes to around 2.15 bar on enhanced fuel.

this car could be one of two; one is matt red (I used to own this one) and has a Lancia Dedra turbo engine in it, not a 'grale; the other has orange paint and, I think, has a Fiat Coupe 20v turbo engine in it, very underrated car the Fiat Tipo, same chassis as the Integrale and same fragility, I sold mine as everytime I used it I wondered what would fall off or break on this journey, but when it was working it was a fantastic car
