S2000 - Imports?
After being dissapointed with a TT225 I have started looking for a Honda S2000.
Was wondering:
1. How to spot a import
2. The difference in spec (if any)
3. Where they are imported from
4. Reasons to go for/avoid a import
5. Also things to look out for on imports and UK cars
6. Model/Year differences
Thanks in advance.

LOL - what didn't you like about it bob !?!? The S2000 is very much the opposite to a TT lol. Still in accordance to Auto Express they are the billy *****. As for an import i can't help you - sorry. I would always buy UK everything myself, but just my preference.

Depends what you mean by import? Jap or Euro?
Euro there are very few differences, but the Jap one does have a nmuber of changes.
Go to http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=120 and look in the FAQ's. Also some nice ones for sale. Dont buy the one advertised by Mebz btw, - something not right with it....
Its a bloody great car, I have one and well chuffed with it

What is your beef with Mebz car?
Imports are surprisingly hard to spot if you don't know much about vehicle registering like me I looked at a car in dundee and poured through the documentation and reggy documents but the only clue was a belgium service book. I asked the owner the question and he confirmed it was a euro import. Other clues are that some of the imports have a small fire extinguisher in the passenger footwell.
With the exception of not having a CAT1 alarm the euro imports are identical to the UK car and when insuring them are regarded as full uk spec! My quotes were actually £50 cheaper for the euro car Maybe they figured I'd be able to catch any fires before they took hold
The euro car has all the pros of the uk car but the only problem is selling it on. You see some euro owners will let some of the inital saving filter down and others wont. If you can't get a euro cheaper than a uk then personally I wouldn't buy it as you will definately have people trying to haggle you when you come to sell it meaning it WILL be harder to sell if you are trying to attract a UK price. I started a thread on this a few weeks back before buying mines.....Thread Here
There have been changes to the car most years but the 2002 car is quite different from the <2001. The early cars had more focused but snappy handling, a plastic rear screen, a slightly poorer interior, etc. DBM will disagree completely here because he got an 01 but for me I was only considering 2002 and newer as I think these changes were worth having. They 2004 model is quite different as well with an updated interior and exterior and an engine that has been stroked to 2.2l providing no extra bhp but better torque spread lower down.
Lovely cars and the feeling of driving them is brilliant. I used to pull up next to M3s, etc in my scooby and feel like a wee nobber next to them. I pull up in the S and whilst my car is nowhere near as expensive or fast, etc it somehow feels as special and you feel like people look and think, 'wow check out those lovely cars' rather than, 'check out the M3 and the ned trying to race it'

If the truth be known neither could I........I have an trick S2000 on the drive and b*gger all in the fridge
The interiors are very similar but I really like the little bits of extra leather they replaced the carpet with. I think they also improved the speakers and added tweeters higher up on the doors.
