looking for a 4 seater convertible,preferebly with a tin top.but someone suggested the audi due to a 70% retained value after 3 years.would you buy one ? they do a 4 wheel drive version with diesel .looks ok with chrome windscreen supports.

The A4 Cabriolet is a very nice car although in TDi guise it detracts somewhat from the pleasures of top down motoring. It's beter to hear a creamy V6 than a clattery, albeit refined, diesel engine when the hood is down.

I have been test driving various 4 seater convertibles over the last month and have already discounted Saab and Mercedes as they lacked any sporting credentials. The best car available IMHO is the BMW E46 M3 Cab closely followed by the BMW 330 Cab with the Audi 3.0 V6 3rd. It all comes down to the badge. There are very few Audi's available so prices are staying high at the moment and will continue to do so throughout the summer. As you know the BMW cabriolets are very popular on our roads so finding one at a good price is less of a problem. I think I will try and find a very well spec'd 330 Sport Cab for £25k'ish.

Mate has a 3.0 A4 Cab and it's a great car, he loves it. Not as fine in the handling stakes as a softtop 3 series, but I think it has better looks personally.
