Evo 1 question
Has anybody on here ever owned a Mitsibushi Evo 1 ?
How do they compare to Scoobys ? How reliable are they, also anything I should look for when checking the car.
Seems like alot of car for not so much money, also a bit rare.

RWD? I think that you are mistaken there.
CD9a's are substantially cheaper than CE9a's (Evolution II & III's) in Japan (£900 tops!); theyre usually cheaper than early Scooby 'Wagons too..... For your money you get a much rougher and readier car with 250 PS and a lot less understeer. The 4G63 engine is a fair bid hardier than the EJ20, but boxers will always be fragile.
If I was buying an Evo again Id be looking at a CD9a but itll be hard to find a good one; virtually every one imported is crap, as virtually every one offered in auction in Japan is crap, good grade cars are hard to find.
One further thing to consider is that the bodyshell hasnt dated too well, in contrast to the later Evolution IV shape which still looks fresh in my opinion. As Mitsubishi then sold it to Proton along with all of the tooling it looks like a McDonalds carpark Proton Wira too; the upside of this is that all of Protons cheap panels fit if you need them...

Not owned one but driven one quite a fair few times.
They are pretty fast for what they are and pretty punchy but the gearshift is really cack which is a shame given the gear ratios because you are going through the gears all the time I've driven both the evo 1 and evo 3 and they were both bad so it wasn't a one off Shame because the acceleration is really savage but everytime you change gear (which is alot ) you get pissed off at how crap it feels It feels worse than my old metro I kid you not
Although they are faster than a scoob I'd take the scoob every single time because they really do feel more together and are a much better drive.
Hope that helps
