Default BEST SOFT ROADER ??

Best Soft Roader ??

My father is thinking of buying a soft roader.
Narrowed search down to 4 models,

1. Freelander.

2. Honda CRV.

3. Rav 4.

4. Nissan X-Trail.

Which is the better/worse buy and why

/ would not touch a freelander as they always do poorly in customer satisfaction surveys due to reliability problems. all the japanese models are fine cars but going by car magazine tests the x-trail takes first spot. supposed to be a fine drive and a good ownership prospect.

Another forester vote here. A better all round car than an Impreza

What does he want it for? Off roading? If so, I wouldn't bother with any of them. Get a real off-roader.

BTW, what's a 'soft road'?

forrester, without a doubt

and the transition from impreza to forrester is painless, the forrester handles less civilized roads far better than an impreza, yet maintains all of the qualities that make us love the impreza, except for that turbo... but that can be fixed :-D

the nissan x-trail (i'm assuming thats the uk equivalent of the xterra) is a solid vehicle too, i'd go for that as well (dunno why, but girls around here dig those, must be the hump)

Look all a bit dated now. I would go for the New Nissan that comes out this month cannot remember the name Maurono or something similar.

They all hold the values pretty well, agreed the Japanese should give good reliabilty but the Freelander cant be discounted as the newer versions are good and still made by THE off roader company 'Land Rover'.

As with all of them never buy new but source a good 2nd hand one with as many toys as possible.

Ohh and go for a diesel as the economy on the petrol versions in all of them is comparable with a Subaru driven aggressively.

Zippy
