Just bought a 205 GRD
I've just bought a J plate 205 1.8 GRD to run to work and back, is there anything i should check, keep an eye on etc?? I'm going to give it an oil change, replace the cam cover gasket (leaking) and maybe the cam belt if it doesn't look very new.

no problem
Yeah, there is no temp gauge in mine either, which i don't like. I mayfit a cheap aftermarket one, but i don't think i can be arsed, its only a knacker to get me around for a few months

Whats the handling like on yours? I am finding the stering wheel pulling slightly to the left even though it's had a recent tracking done by kwik fit. Also goign round a round-a-bout a bit nerve racking. So looking forward to using the STi at wekends more now.

Its hard to say what to look for on a 15 year old car. My suggestion would be to check all the levels, wheel nuts, bearings etc and then just drive it. It will soon become blatantly obvious if there is something amiss. Oh and join the AA incase there is ........ Peopla will tell you to check the beam, bounce up and down on suspension etc etc but in fairness on a 15 year old french car your lucky or your not, and I would suggest you will find out which you are in the next 3 months.
Not very helpfull but the truth ....
Gary
Oh and if you really want to take it for an early MOT, that will tell you if brake lines are knackered etc

Thats why I went for one with a turbo. Takes some getting used to but quite nippy.

See your point. I don't do any motorway driving to get to work but it's still 200 miles a week that the scoob ain't getting worn out over. And hopefully 400 miles + to a tank of diesel also.

A good tip I'd heard for running a cheaper car is get it MOT'd every 6 months, that way you keep an eye on things and if it fails on something you can't be arsed fixing you can still flog it with 6 months MOT
